Mitsubishi’s Delica Mini Active Camper turns the kei-sized Delica Mini into a tiny sleeper concept, with a pop-up roof and upper bed. It is a show vehicle, not a confirmed production camper or an announced conversion kit, so there is no established sale date or orderable package.
What the Delica Mini Active Camper is
New Atlas reported on January 7, 2026, that Mitsubishi presented the Delica Mini Active Camper among show vehicles at its Delica Festival. The Tokyo Auto Salon opened January 9, 2026, according to the report. New Atlas attributes the concept to Mitsubishi, but its report is not a direct Mitsubishi announcement. The name can cause confusion: this is based on the Delica Mini, not Mitsubishi’s separate Minicab Van. Mitsubishi describes the Minicab Van as a kei commercial vehicle with cargo-oriented features and 2WD or 4WD versions; its specifications do not describe the Delica Mini camper. How its sleeping setup works
The defining feature is a pop-up roof with an upper bed. That gives the concept a built-in sleeping space without requiring a separate rooftop tent to be mounted or removed. The report does not detail the bed’s dimensions, capacity, setup procedure, or whether the vehicle has additional sleeping space below.

- ARB awning: An exterior awning is listed in the report; it does not identify an exact retail model or establish compatibility with a production Delica Mini.

New Atlas suggests the accessory setup may indicate 4WD, but the material it reports does not confirm the concept’s drivetrain. Treat 4WD as an inference, not a verified specification.

Those reported dimensions help explain the appeal and the compromise: this is a small kei vehicle with a clever sleeping concept, not a full-size camper van. The report does not establish interior living space, payload, or how much usable room remains with the bed deployed.

The Active Camper described by New Atlas is a concept. The report does not confirm production, a retail conversion package, pricing, a sale date, or availability outside Japan. That is different from saying Mitsubishi has ruled out production; no such decision is established in the report.

The concept is useful as a glimpse of how a compact Delica Mini could be equipped for overnight trips, but buyers should not treat its roof, bed, awning, or other accessories as orderable or officially approved for a customer vehicle based on this coverage alone.
