Michael Schumacher’s OMEGA connection is most directly tied to the Speedmaster Racing line: OMEGA says he launched its 1996 Racing model after becoming a brand ambassador that year. The red reference is 3810.61.41. These watches have motorsport provenance and several later Schumacher editions, but one 2024 auction result is not enough to show that examples are broadly available at excellent values. Assess each watch against its exact reference, condition, completeness and recent comparable sales.
How Schumacher became linked to the Speedmaster Racing
OMEGA’s history identifies Schumacher as an ambassador from 1996 and says he launched the Speedmaster Racing from the karting track in Kerpen, Germany. The brand’s page identifies the red version as reference 3810.61.41 and says the model was also produced in yellow. OMEGA’s history of the Schumacher Speedmaster Racing is the primary source for that launch and the red model’s specifications.
The 1996 red Speedmaster Racing
The red reference 3810.61.41 is a 39 mm stainless-steel chronograph with a red luminous dial, racing-style minute track, leather strap and Hesalite glass, according to OMEGA. Its presentation box was made of rubber and modeled after an F1 tire, with Schumacher’s signature in white. Auction catalogues also describe the red-and-yellow lineup and tire-inspired box, but the box is an accessory, not proof by itself that a particular watch is authentic or complete. Phillips’ catalogue description provides auction-lot context for the presentation.
Which later Schumacher editions are identifiable?
“Schumacher Speedmaster” can refer to more than the 1996 launch model. Later World Champion editions have distinct years and edition details, so a listing should be matched to its own reference and documentation rather than grouped under one generic name.

| Model | What the cited record identifies |
|---|---|
| World Champion 2000 | Sotheby’s catalogues a limited-edition stainless-steel chronograph, circa 2000. Sotheby’s lot record. |
| World Champion 2001 | Dorotheum identifies reference 35195000 and an edition of 11,111 pieces. Dorotheum’s lot record. |
| World Champion 2002 | Phillips describes a limited edition celebrating Schumacher’s fifth Formula 1 title and reports a run of 5,555. Phillips’ catalogue description. |
Those edition descriptions identify the models reported in the cited catalogues; they do not establish the identity or originality of every watch offered under a similar name. Ask for photographs and documentation that let a specialist verify the individual watch’s reference, serial and components.
What does the available value evidence show?
Dorotheum records a realized price of EUR 2,640 on 2024-05-28 for a Speedmaster Racing Michael Schumacher World Champion 2001, reference 35195000. That is one dated auction result for one lot—not a current asking price, appraisal or market-wide benchmark. Auction results and dealer or marketplace asking prices are different measures, and a single sale cannot establish that all Schumacher Speedmasters are bargains.

Chrono24 characterizes pre-owned 39 mm Reduced Schumacher models as a common entry point into Speedmaster Racing, but that is marketplace category commentary rather than a verified price range or independent valuation. Chrono24’s Schumacher category page is useful for locating that category, not as evidence that a particular asking price is fair.
No current like-for-like price range is established here by exact reference, condition, completeness and geography. To judge whether a listing represents good value, compare contemporaneous listings and recent realized sales for the same reference and edition; account for currency, date, venue and any auction fees. A low headline price can be offset by missing accessories, uncertain service needs or seller terms that offer little recourse.

How to evaluate a specific watch
Use the following checks before comparing prices or committing to a purchase. An auction catalogue can describe what accompanied its own lot, but it cannot verify a watch currently offered elsewhere.
Quick Recap
Best Value
- Model 310.30.42.50.01.002
- Match the reference and edition. Request clear case and movement documentation, then verify that the reference and edition description fit the model being sold. Do not assume every Schumacher-branded Speedmaster is the 1996 3810.61.41.
- Assess condition and originality. Review the dial, hands, bezel, case and movement operation. Ask whether parts have been replaced or refinished; use a qualified watchmaker or authentication specialist if you cannot assess them yourself.
- Request service evidence. Ask for dated service records and clarify what work was performed. If service history is unknown, include the possibility of service costs in your comparison rather than treating the watch as ready to wear.
- Inventory what is included. Record the box, papers, warranty, strap or bracelet and other accessories. Compare complete and incomplete examples accordingly; a tire-style presentation box is associated with the 1996 model, but its presence alone does not authenticate the watch.
- Check the seller and transaction terms. Confirm the seller’s identity, return policy, authenticity process and the buyer protections that apply in the transaction’s jurisdiction.
- Compare relevant price evidence. Use recent sales and current offers for the same reference, condition and level of completeness. Keep the sale date, currency, venue and fees attached to each figure so that unlike transactions do not appear comparable.
