What is the STRONGER THAN THE 1980s G-Class?
It is a limited-edition modern G-Class whose design recalls the first G-Class series, the W 460, and the 280 GE. Mercedes-Benz says the edition combines heritage-inspired colors and details with the technology and comfort of a contemporary G-Class. The U.S. announcement specifically described its version as based on the 2025 G 550; that description should not be treated as the universal specification.
Mercedes-Benz announced the edition on April 16, 2025. The company’s U.S. release said it was expected at select U.S. dealerships later that year, which was an announcement-era schedule—not confirmation of availability now. Mercedes-Benz USA’s announcement describes the U.S. edition; the global German-language announcement gives the international model and German-market details.
How many were made?
Mercedes-Benz announced a production limit of 460 vehicles worldwide. The “1 of 460” badge on the center console is one of the edition’s U.S.-announced details. Japan’s allocation was reported as 100 vehicles, a regional share rather than the total production run, according to Mercedes-Benz Japan.

Which G-Class versions were offered?
The announced configuration varies by market. The global release names the diesel G 450 d and gasoline G 500, while Mercedes-Benz USA identifies its edition as based on the 2025 G 550. These are regional descriptions, not three versions confirmed for every market.

What makes the edition look different?
Exterior
The U.S. announcement lists three nostalgic paint finishes: MANUFAKTUR Agave Green, MANUFAKTUR Cream, and MANUFAKTUR Colorado Beige. It also calls out amber indicator lights above the headlights and a projection beneath the exterior mirrors that reads “G – STRONGER THAN TIME.” The global announcement additionally describes classic five-spoke alloy wheels and a heritage-style Mercedes emblem. Equipment can differ by market.
Cabin
According to the U.S. release, the black leather seats have Dove Grey fabric inserts. The passenger grab handle is inscribed “STRONGER THAN THE 1980s,” the front sill panels depict the topography of Schöckl mountain, and the center console carries the “1 of 460” badge.

How much did it cost?
Mercedes-Benz’s global German-language announcement gave a German starting price of €160,055.00. That is the announced German price, not a U.S. MSRP, a current dealer quote, or a measure of resale value. The official announcements do not establish current inventory, remaining allocations, or October 2026 asking prices.
