Mercedes-Benz India has received more than 1,000 orders for the CLA Electric, according to reports published on 5 October 2026. Deliveries are now reported to extend into 2027, with the precise end of the waiting period differing between outlets: Autocar India says March, while Business Standard reports March–April.
Orders have passed 1,000, but delivery estimates differ
Autocar India and Business Standard both reported that Mercedes-Benz India had received more than 1,000 orders for the CLA Electric. Autocar India said deliveries were extending into March 2027, with waiting periods of up to six months. Business Standard put the delivery window at March–April 2027. The reports agree that the backlog reaches into 2027, but do not give the same final month. (Autocar India; Business Standard)
The order figure is a reported company count, not an independently published order ledger. It is also a later update, not the launch tally: more than 400 bookings had been reported when the car launched in India in April.
Mercedes-Benz says supply is limiting sales
Both reports point to constrained supply rather than weak demand as the reason the company cannot meet orders sooner. Business Standard quoted Mercedes-Benz India managing director and CEO Santosh Iyer saying, “The (overall) demand is still there for double-digit growth. I think it’s more on the supply side that we are not able to cater.”

Autocar India attributed to Iyer the estimate that Mercedes-Benz India could have achieved 7–8 percentage points higher EV penetration that year without supply-side issues. That is his company-level estimate, not a measured sales result for the CLA Electric alone.
What the order news says about the car’s early launch
Bookings opened on 10 March 2026, and Mercedes-Benz launched the CLA Electric in India on 24 April. The report of more than 1,000 orders on 5 October therefore reflects a substantial increase over the more-than-400 bookings reported at launch.

Autocar India also reported that Mercedes-Benz India’s electric-car sales rose 16% in January–September 2026. This is a company-reported figure for the electric-car range, not a CLA-only sales count or an independently audited model-level result.
CLA Electric variants, price and range claims in India
Autocar India’s model guide lists two India variants, the CLA 200 Standard Range and CLA 250+ Long Range, with an ex-showroom price range of ₹56.50 lakh to ₹60.50 lakh. Those are secondary-source figures and can change; Mercedes-Benz directs buyers to its brochure or a retailer for India-specific technical and price details. The manufacturer’s product page gives specifications for the CLA 200: up to 542 km of WLTP-certified range, a 58 kWh usable battery, maximum DC charging capacity of 200 kW, and a stated 20 minutes to charge from 10% to 80%. It also lists 165 kW (224 hp), rear-wheel drive and 335 Nm. These are manufacturer figures for the CLA 200; WLTP range is a standardized claim, not a promise of real-world range in Indian driving, and these specifications should not be assumed to apply to the CLA 250+.

The reported backlog is a useful indication of demand, but it cannot establish the delivery date for a particular buyer or dealer. Before committing, ask an authorized Mercedes-Benz retailer to confirm the chosen variant’s current price and a written, buyer-specific delivery estimate. Compare the variant and its applicable range and charging specifications rather than treating the CLA 200’s WLTP figure as a range claim for the whole line-up.

For broader business context, Autocar India reported Mercedes-Benz India retail sales of 15,190 cars in January–September 2026, up 8% year on year, and Q3 retail sales of 5,422, up 6%. These company figures describe the overall business; they do not identify CLA Electric deliveries.
