Mercedes-Benz USA lists a 0–60 mph time of 2.7 seconds; that is the manufacturer’s claim, not an independent test result. The car’s low, purposeful proportions are backed by active aerodynamic and chassis equipment, but the headline is its hybrid powertrain.
Which Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE is this?
The 805-hp figure belongs to the two-door coupe sold in the United States. Mercedes-Benz USA’s current model page identifies it as the 2026 Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE Coupe and lists 805 hp and 1,047 lb-ft of combined system output. The similarly named four-door is a separate model with different figures, so the two should not be treated as interchangeable.
Market specifications also differ. Mercedes-AMG’s German-market two-door page lists 600 kW (816 hp), 1,420 Nm and 2.8 seconds from 0–100 km/h. Those European figures use a different market specification and acceleration measure; they are not a second way of stating the U.S. car’s 0–60 mph rating.
| Model and market | Combined output and torque | Manufacturer acceleration figure |
|---|---|---|
| Two-door coupe, U.S. | 805 hp; 1,047 lb-ft | 0–60 mph in 2.7 seconds |
| Two-door coupe, Germany | 600 kW (816 hp); 1,420 Nm | 0–100 km/h in 2.8 seconds |
| Four-door coupe, U.S., 2025 quick reference guide | 831 hp; 1,032 lb-ft | Not stated in the cited quick reference guide |

How does the coupe make 805 hp?
The system combines a handcrafted 4.0-liter biturbo V8 at the front with an electric motor at the rear. Mercedes-Benz USA lists the V8 at 603 hp and the rear motor at a peak 201 hp; the manufacturer’s combined system rating is 805 hp. The component figures should not simply be added together as if each were always available at the same time—the combined figure is Mercedes’ rating for the complete powertrain.
The rear electric drive unit also incorporates an electrically shifted two-speed transmission and a limited-slip rear differential, according to Mercedes-Benz’s launch announcement. The car can route electric drive to the front wheels through its mechanical all-wheel-drive connection when traction requires it. Mercedes describes the system layout and operation in its April 20, 2024 launch release.

Why use a small, power-focused hybrid battery?
The launch release gives the battery an installed capacity of 6.1 kWh and a usable capacity of 4.8 kWh. Mercedes says it was designed to deliver and absorb power quickly and repeatedly, rather than maximize electric-only range. Its explanation emphasizes high recuperation and needs-based recharging.
The 400-volt battery contains 560 cells. Mercedes says a direct-cooling design circulates nonconductive coolant around the cells to manage temperature. These are manufacturer descriptions of the system’s design and intended use, not independent validation of its performance.

For the U.S. coupe, the model page lists 3.7 kW AC charging through a J1772 connector. It shows the 25–100% AC charging time as “TBA.” The cited U.S. specifications do not establish an electric driving range or a confirmed charge time, so neither should be inferred from the battery capacity alone.
How fast is it, according to Mercedes?
Mercedes-Benz USA lists 0–60 mph in 2.7 seconds. The 2024 launch release identifies that acceleration number as an estimate in its specification table. At launch, Mercedes-AMG CEO Michael Schiebe said: “From zero to 60 in 2.7 seconds – no AMG series model has ever sprinted that fast before.” That is a launch-era manufacturer statement, not an independent timing result.

- Why does the Mercedes AMG get only have room for a medium suitcase in the trunk?
- Because all the space was taken up by the turbocharged 243 cu in V8 engine.
- That beastly engine delivers over 250 Horsepower per seat-a total of 503 British Horsepower
- With that much under the hood, it can hit 60 mph from a Dead stop in just under four seconds and maintain a top speed of nearly 190 mph
- Kit features multi-part body, opening hood, left or right hand drive, and lots of plate options
The U.S. figure uses 0–60 mph; the German-market page instead gives 0–100 km/h in 2.8 seconds. Because the figures come from different market pages and use different measurement conventions, they should be kept distinct rather than presented as a direct comparison.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What gives the coupe its purposeful look—and what does the equipment do?
“Looks fast standing still” is a styling impression, not a measurable specification. The two-door’s low coupe shape and the hardware listed by Mercedes help explain why it reads as a performance car: the U.S. model page identifies AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL, a front-axle lift system, active rear-axle steering, a multistage active rear spoiler and an active aerodynamic element. The manufacturer’s launch release discusses the active aero and hybrid-system engineering; the model page is the source for the listed equipment.

The names indicate distinct functions, not a guarantee of a particular visual effect or lap-time benefit. Mercedes presents these as chassis and aerodynamic features; without independent testing, their real-world effect should not be overstated.
What do the U.S. practical specifications say?
Despite the two-door body and performance focus, the U.S. model page provides a few useful ownership-context figures. These are manufacturer specifications for the listed model, not measurements from an independent test.
