W211: the naturally aspirated V8 E63
Mercedes-Benz’s global history places E 63 AMG availability from 2006 and describes a 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 paired with an AMG seven-speed automatic. The U.S. parts catalog describes the earlier E63 as a 507-horsepower, 6.3-liter V8 and lists model-year coverage beginning in 2007. The apparent displacement mismatch reflects naming conventions: the engine’s actual displacement is described as 6.2 liters, while the model and retrospective catalog wording use 6.3.
Use 2006 when referring to the global introduction and 2007 as the start of the U.S. model-year entries established by the catalog. Those dates answer different questions and should not be treated as interchangeable.

W212: the next E63 era
Mercedes-Benz dates the E-Class 212 sedan to 2009 and says the E 63 AMG followed in April 2009. Its history records 386 kW (525 PS) for the E63 at that launch. This is a specific historical figure, not a specification for every W212 E63 year, market or later configuration.
W213: E63 S, biturbo power and all-wheel drive
The W213 E-Class series covers 2016–2023 in Mercedes-Benz’s history, but that broad span does not establish the E63 S sedan’s final model year. For the U.S., Mercedes-Benz announced the E63 S as a 2018 model scheduled to reach dealers in summer 2017. Its 2019 and 2021 U.S. guides confirm the sedan remained in the lineup for those model years.

For the 2021 E63 S Sedan, Mercedes-Benz lists 603 hp, 627 lb-ft, a 0–60 mph time of 3.3 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 186 mph. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results.

How to identify an E63 by year
- Start with the chassis generation. The relevant sedan eras are W211, W212 and W213; use the generation-specific timeline above rather than assuming the broader E-Class production dates are E63 dates.
- Separate global launch from U.S. model year. The W211’s 2006 global availability and 2007 U.S. catalog entries illustrate why a calendar launch year may differ from the model year on a U.S. vehicle.
- Check the exact model year and configuration. Specifications vary by year, trim and market. The cited U.S. E63 S specifications are examples for 2018 and 2021, not values to apply to every W213.
Verify year-specific parts fitment
Mercedes-Benz USA’s E63 parts catalog is organized by model year and includes genuine replacement categories such as suspension and brake components.
