The 2027 Mitsubishi Eclipse Sportback EV is a new electric subcompact SUV planned for the U.S. and Canada in the second half of 2026. It is new to Mitsubishi’s lineup, but Mitsubishi says Nissan will supply it on an OEM basis, with exterior changes to distinguish it. The U.S. product page currently says “Coming Soon” and lists up to 282 miles of 2027 EPA-estimated range. Mitsubishi has not published a price in the sources available, so calling it a confirmed $30,000 EV would be premature.
What is the Mitsubishi Eclipse Sportback EV?
The Eclipse Sportback is a battery-electric subcompact SUV aimed at North American buyers. Mitsubishi Motors Corporation described it in its June 10, 2026 announcement as “an electric subcompact SUV that combines sporty styling with strong environmental performance.” That is the automaker’s characterization, not an independent assessment of how it drives.
Mitsubishi says Nissan will supply the vehicle on an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) basis for the U.S. and Canadian markets. Mitsubishi has made exterior changes to give it a distinct appearance. The announcement does not establish that the two automakers’ versions will share every specification, feature, or price.
When will it be on sale?
Mitsubishi announced sales in the second half of 2026. However, its current U.S. product page still labels the vehicle “Coming Soon.” The available official information does not establish that retail sales or customer deliveries have begun, so the announced sales window should not be treated as proof of current availability.

How far can the Eclipse Sportback go on a charge?
Mitsubishi Motors North America lists up to 282 miles of 2027 EPA-estimated driving range on its U.S. model page. “Up to” matters: it is an estimate, not a promise that every version or driving condition will achieve that distance. The consulted material does not specify charging-port type, charging rates, or charging time for the Eclipse Sportback.
Do not substitute Nissan Leaf figures for missing Mitsubishi specifications. For context only, a June 2026 InsideEVs report gives the related Leaf 303 miles of EPA range in its base configuration and 259 miles in its larger-wheel configuration. Those are Leaf figures, not confirmed Eclipse Sportback range ratings.

How much will it cost?
Mitsubishi has not published an Eclipse Sportback MSRP in the official material available. InsideEVs reported that the 2026 Nissan Leaf starts at around $30,000 and suggested the Mitsubishi might be priced similarly, while explicitly noting that the Mitsubishi’s price was unknown. That is a reporter’s expectation based on the related Nissan, not an announced Mitsubishi price or a confirmed affordability claim.
Once pricing is released, buyers will be able to assess value more meaningfully by comparing the Eclipse Sportback’s actual price, EPA range, charging performance, vehicle format, warranty, and availability with other EVs. At present, the price and Mitsubishi-specific charging details remain unsettled.

What is known about the battery warranty?
Mitsubishi’s U.S. model page states a limited battery warranty of 10 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first, subject to limitations. It also notes that gradual reductions in battery energy capacity and driving range are normal for lithium-ion batteries and do not, by themselves, constitute a defect in materials or workmanship. Buyers should consult the applicable warranty booklet and terms for coverage details.

What should prospective buyers do now?
- Watch Mitsubishi’s U.S. model page for final pricing, trim details, charging specifications, and a change from “Coming Soon” to an order or availability status.
- Keep the 282-mile figure in context: it is the manufacturer’s “up to” 2027 EPA-estimated range, not a real-world test result.
- If you have a suitable parking space and plan to charge at home, a Level 2 charger may be useful. Wait for Mitsubishi’s final connector and charging-rate specifications before choosing equipment.
