The McLaren 720S Spider is the open-top version of the 720S, pairing a fully electric retractable hard top with a bespoke carbon-fibre Monocage II-S shell. McLaren quotes 720 PS (710 bhp), 770 Nm (568 lb-ft) and a 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) time of 2.8 seconds for the Spider. U.S. prices vary by model year and trim: Cars.com lists original MSRPs from $315,000 for a 2019 Spider to $330,500 for a 2023 Luxury or Performance Spider; Kelley Blue Book’s 2023 used-price guide shows a $279,000 starting figure, not a guaranteed sale price.
What makes the 720S Spider different from the Coupé?
The Spider is the open-top 720S. Its retractable hard top folds away for open-air driving, while McLaren says the car uses a bespoke carbon-fibre shell designed to accommodate the roof mechanism: the Monocage II-S. That structure is specific to the Spider; the general 720S technical page refers to a Carbon Fibre Monocage II and should not be treated as confirmation of Spider-specific structure or weight.
McLaren describes the Spider’s roof as fully electric. Its official page calls it “near-silent,” a manufacturer description rather than an independently measured noise figure. The official model page also supplies imagery and downloadable specification material: McLaren 720S Spider. McLaren 720S Spider specifications
These are the figures McLaren identifies on its Spider page:

- Torque: 770 Nm (568 lb-ft)
- 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph): 2.8 seconds
- Roof and structure: fully electric retractable hard top; bespoke Monocage II-S carbon-fibre shell
There is a small published acceleration discrepancy: McLaren’s Spider page gives 2.8 seconds to 100 km/h, while its general 720S technical page lists 2.9 seconds. These are figures from different McLaren pages; the general-page number should not silently replace the Spider-specific specification.
McLaren’s general 720S page also lists a 7-speed plus reverse Seamless Shift Gearbox, a 341 km/h (212 mph) top speed, 0–200 km/h in 7.8 seconds and a quarter mile in 10.3 seconds. It gives 1,419 kg DIN kerb weight, 1,283 kg dry lightest and luggage capacities of 150 litres at the front and 210 litres at the rear. Because that page does not label those data Spider-specific, they are best treated as general 720S figures—not confirmed Spider specifications. See the McLaren 720S technical page for its model-level material.

U.S. original MSRP by model year and trim
Cars.com’s model-year specification pages list the following U.S. original MSRPs. These are historical new-car sticker prices, not current used asking prices.
| Model year | Trim | U.S. MSRP | Source and access date |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2019 | Spider | $315,000 | Cars.com, accessed 2026-10-08 |
| 2019 | Luxury Spider or Performance Spider | $327,130 | Cars.com, accessed 2026-10-08 |
| 2023 | Spider | $321,000 | Cars.com, accessed 2026-10-08 |
| 2023 | Luxury Spider or Performance Spider | $330,500 | Cars.com, accessed 2026-10-08 |
The year and trim matter: a 2019 Spider’s listed MSRP is not interchangeable with a 2023 Luxury or Performance Spider’s. The listed figures also do not establish the original price of a particular car with its options.

What does a used 2023 720S Spider cost?
Kelley Blue Book’s 2023 720S page currently presents a Spider starting used-price guide figure of $279,000 and an original MSRP starting at $326,500. These are KBB guide figures accessed 2026-10-08, not a verified live listing, guaranteed asking price, or transaction result. See Kelley Blue Book’s 2023 McLaren 720S page. Its separate resale-value figure for the broader 720S page is not a Spider-only transaction benchmark.
Those figures do not establish a representative current asking-price range across the United States, much less other countries. To judge a specific car, compare examples with the same market and model year, then account for mileage, condition, trim, options, warranty and whether the seller is a dealer or private party. A guide value is a starting reference; the car’s documented history and condition still need to be assessed.

What to check when comparing Spider examples
- Confirm the exact variant: verify model year, Spider body style and trim rather than relying on a generic 720S listing.
- Compare like with like: keep region, mileage, condition, option content, warranty and seller channel as consistent as possible.
- Read the listing against the specification: distinguish Spider-specific manufacturer figures from information on McLaren’s general 720S page.
- Assess the individual car: use its records and inspection to evaluate condition; the price references above do not establish the history or mechanical state of any particular example.
