Its headline figures are striking, but its real-world appeal also depends on the specific car: Coupe or Spider, equipment, condition, service history and price. The figures below are McLaren’s published specifications unless otherwise identified; they are not independent test results.
What is the McLaren 720S?
The 720S is the second-generation McLaren Super Series car. McLaren presents it as a lightweight, aerodynamically shaped supercar designed to pair high performance with better outward visibility. Its body is offered as a Coupe or Spider; the specifications below come from McLaren’s official 720S page and should not be read as a review of a particular used example.
McLaren’s description of the car as “a force of nature” is marketing language, not an independent verdict. The same distinction applies to its claims that the chassis anticipates the road and that its steering is designed to provide crisp feedback.

How the 720S is built and designed
Carbon-fibre structure and chassis
McLaren specifies a Carbon Fibre Monocage II structure, double-wishbone suspension, adaptive dampers and Proactive Chassis Control II. The system’s name and McLaren’s claim that it anticipates road conditions describe the manufacturer’s intended operation; the published page does not provide independent test measurements of ride or handling.
Aerodynamics and visibility
McLaren describes the 720S’s shape as teardrop-inspired. It says the deep-set headlights channel air toward the radiators, while slim A-pillars and glazed C-pillars are intended to improve visibility. These are manufacturer explanations of the design rather than independently measured visibility findings.

What does a McLaren 720S cost?
There is no defensible current market-wide price range in the available listing evidence. Two references illustrate why a single figure should not be treated as a valuation:

Car and Driver identifies 2023 as the 720S’s final model year and reports that production ended in December 2022. That is a secondary-source production-history statement, not a current inventory claim; see Car and Driver’s 720S model page. A final model year does not establish what a specific car is worth today.

Because asking prices vary by vehicle and the available examples do not establish a reliable market range, assess each car on its own records and specification. Confirm the exact model year and whether it is a Coupe or Spider, then compare like with like.

- Review accident history and arrange an inspection; an asking price or CPO label alone does not describe a car’s condition.
- Confirm any warranty coverage directly with the seller and read its terms, including duration and exclusions.
- Compare asking prices only with vehicles of similar year, body style, mileage, condition and specification.
The cited evidence does not establish typical repair costs, maintenance intervals, reliability rates or ownership-cost averages for the 720S. Those points should be verified for the individual car rather than inferred from its specifications.
