Yes—according to automotive journalists who tested it, Mazda’s CX-6e electric SUV can broadcast typed messages through an exterior speaker, and profanities reportedly played. That “say whatever you want” capability comes from Car and Driver’s October 4, 2026 report, not from a feature description in the Mazda materials reviewed here.
What the CX-6e’s exterior speaker reportedly does
Car and Driver reports that the CX-6e offers three ways to make announcements outside the vehicle: select preset alerts, type a custom message for text-to-speech playback, or broadcast the driver’s live voice. The report says Australian journalists tested the system and were able to play profanities.
That is a reported test result, not confirmation that Mazda officially markets the feature as unrestricted. Mazda’s official launch and Australian product materials establish the CX-6e and publish vehicle specifications, but the materials reviewed do not describe the announcement controls or spell out content restrictions. So the careful answer to “can it say anything?” is: custom messages and profanity playback were reported in testing; Mazda’s published material reviewed here does not establish that every message is permitted or that the feature is unrestricted in every market.
Which Mazda is it, and where is it sold?
The vehicle in the story is the Mazda CX-6e, a battery-electric crossover announced for Europe, Australia, and other markets. Mazda says it builds on the EZ-60 unveiled in Shanghai, and identifies Chongqing Changan Automobile as its collaboration partner. The EZ-60 is the related China-market model; Mazda described it as a crossover SUV with battery-electric and plug-in hybrid variants planned.

For Australia, Mazda’s product page lists the CX-6e and provides local purchase information. Its published figures include a 78 kWh battery, 190 kW rear-wheel drive, and up to 484 km of WLTP range for the GT grade. Those are Australia-specific advertised specifications; the range is conditional, and specifications or availability can differ by market.
Is this the same as an EV pedestrian warning sound?
No. A driver-operated announcement speaker and a low-speed pedestrian warning system serve different purposes. The first lets the driver make an announcement; the second automatically makes a warning sound to alert nearby pedestrians while a vehicle approaches at low speed.

Mazda’s 2023 MX-30 owner’s manual documents an “approaching vehicle audible system” on that model. It says the system operates while accelerating from a stop at 30 km/h (19 mph) or slower, while decelerating at 25 km/h (16 mph) or slower, and when the driver releases the brake with the selector outside Park. These are MX-30 conditions only—not confirmed CX-6e thresholds.

Mazda Australia says a 7.2 kW AC charger can take the CX-6e from 20% to 80% overnight. Actual charging time varies with charger capacity, battery and ambient temperatures, and other factors. The page does not establish compatibility with a particular third-party charger, so confirm the vehicle’s connector and local electrical installation requirements before choosing equipment.
