How the reported outside-message feature works
Yahoo Autos describes a system for delivering announcements to people outside the CX-6e without lowering a window. According to that report, drivers can choose from prerecorded phrases or enter custom wording on the touchscreen and save it for quick access. The report summarizes a news.com.au test in which custom text reportedly accepted profanity. That was user-entered text, not a factory-loaded profane phrase.

The reporting does not establish which markets or vehicle grades include the feature, how the outside audio is produced, or what operating limits apply. Mazda’s official CX-6e announcement says equipment may vary by grade and does not mention the system. Mazda Motor Corporation announced the CX-6e on January 12, 2026, for Europe, Australia and other markets. Mazda describes it as the second model in its global collaborative battery-EV lineup after the Mazda 6e, based on the Mazda EZ-60 and developed with Chongqing Changan Automobile Co., Ltd. Mazda’s announcement notes that equipment can differ by grade.

What the feature could—and could not—replace
A spoken announcement could convey more than a conventional horn, which is useful in principle when a brief warning does not explain what the driver wants another road user to notice. But the available reports do not establish whether the system is intended for traffic communication, when it can be used, or what safety guidance Mazda provides. It should not be treated as a license to distract, harass or escalate a road encounter; use local rules and ordinary road-safety judgment.
