Choose an Ertiga by matching fuel and transmission first, then decide whether the extra equipment on VXi, ZXi or ZXi+ is worth the difference in your city’s on-road price. The India-market 2025 brochure lists petrol manual versions from LXi upward, petrol automatics from VXi upward, and CNG only in VXi MT and ZXi MT.

These are shortlists, not universal recommendations. The right choice depends on your required fuel and transmission, the equipment you will actually use, and the price gap between versions where you are buying.
What changes as you move up the trims?
LXi MT: the entry point
The LXi is listed with a manual transmission only. It makes sense to consider if the entry equipment tier covers your needs and you do not require an automatic or the convenience and infotainment equipment assigned to higher trims. The brochure does not establish a timeless rupee saving over other variants; compare current, city-specific on-road quotes.
VXi: everyday equipment, plus the first automatic and CNG options
VXi is available with petrol manual and automatic transmissions, as well as CNG manual. The brochure’s feature matrix assigns items including an audio system, Bluetooth and speakers at VXi level. Check the column for the exact fuel and transmission combination, since equipment fit can differ by version.

For a buyer who needs CNG or an automatic but is not set on the higher-trim equipment, VXi is the first configuration to examine. It is not an automatic answer to “best value”: that depends on its price difference from the other eligible trim in your city.
ZXi: a step up in infotainment and convenience
ZXi is listed as petrol manual, petrol automatic and CNG manual. The brochure matrix assigns SmartPlay Studio touchscreen equipment and cruise control at ZXi level. It also lists wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay in ZXi columns; confirm availability for the exact fuel/transmission version rather than assuming every ZXi has identical equipment.

For CNG buyers, the practical comparison is VXi MT versus ZXi MT: consider whether the ZXi equipment is worth the local price difference. For petrol buyers, ZXi is the middle route to higher equipment without moving to the top trim.
ZXi+: the top listed trim
ZXi+ is listed with petrol manual and automatic transmissions, but not CNG. The brochure assigns it a 17.78 cm SmartPlay Pro touchscreen, Arkamys premium sound, and auto headlamps with follow-me-home and lead-me-to-vehicle functions. If you want those specific features, compare ZXi+ against ZXi using current local quotes; if you do not, the lower trim may be a more relevant shortlist.

Which fuel and transmission combinations are listed?
Maruti Suzuki India Limited’s 2025 brochure lists seven petrol trim/transmission combinations and two CNG combinations:

“MT” means manual transmission and “AT” means automatic transmission. The brochure describes the automatic as a 6-speed unit with paddle shifters on automatic versions. Since LXi is manual-only and CNG is confined to VXi MT and ZXi MT in this lineup, buyers needing either of those configurations can narrow their comparison before weighing equipment.

What are the brochure-listed engine figures?
The following are manufacturer specifications in the India-market 2025 brochure, not independent test results:

The brochure also shows idle start-stop, brake energy regeneration and torque assist for petrol. It does not establish an independent fuel-economy result, so do not use these power figures as a substitute for a mileage comparison based on your own driving conditions.

Does every variant work equally well as a seven-seater?
The 2025 brochure lists the Ertiga as a seven-seat vehicle. It also describes flexible luggage space with the third row flat-folded, while noting exceptions in some CNG columns. If you regularly carry both passengers and bulky luggage, inspect the exact CNG or petrol version and its seat-folding arrangement before choosing; the seven-seat figure alone does not tell you how much usable luggage space remains in your normal configuration.
How to make the final choice
- Set the non-negotiables. Decide whether you need CNG, an automatic, or a manual. CNG narrows the listed choice to VXi MT and ZXi MT; petrol automatic narrows it to VXi AT, ZXi AT and ZXi+ AT.
- Compare equipment columns, not just trim names. Use the brochure matrix for the exact fuel/transmission version, especially for audio, phone integration and convenience features.
- Get comparable local prices. Request current on-road quotes for the eligible variants in your city and compare the actual difference, not an undated ex-showroom figure. Maruti Suzuki’s Ertiga price page provides a route to check pricing; confirm the final figure with an authorized Arena dealer.
- Check availability and configuration. The official Ertiga model page can help confirm the broad model and trim lineup. Verify delivery availability and exact equipment with the dealer for your chosen version.
- Decide whether the upgrade earns its price gap. If you will use the ZXi or ZXi+ equipment, factor that into the comparison. If not, the lower eligible trim may meet your requirements without paying for features you do not value.
For dimensional reference, the current 2025 brochure lists the Ertiga at 4,435 mm long, 1,735 mm wide and 1,690 mm high, with a 2,740 mm wheelbase and 5.2 m turning radius. These figures are specific to that brochure; an older 2024 brochure lists a different length, so avoid mixing model-year specifications. Maruti Suzuki notes that equipment, specifications and models may change without notice. See the official 2025 Ertiga brochure and confirm the current version with the dealer.
