The right version depends on how often you need all three rows, your annual distance and local fuel prices, and whether the trim’s equipment and quoted on-road cost fit your needs. Maruti Suzuki’s official figures are useful for comparison, but they are manufacturer-stated—not a promise of real-world fuel economy or a monthly saving.
Which Ertiga versions can you buy?
Maruti Suzuki’s India-market line-up lists LXi, VXi, ZXi and ZXi+ petrol trims, plus VXi and ZXi CNG versions. Depending on the variant, petrol is available with a five-speed manual or six-speed automatic; the listed automatic is petrol-only. The CNG versions are manual. The model page lists a 1,462 cc engine family and front-wheel drive. Check the current variant page and the actual car’s equipment before choosing: trim content and availability can change.
Compare candidates on four practical points:
- Fuel and distance: Compare petrol and CNG using your expected annual kilometres and local fuel prices, not claimed efficiency alone.
- Transmission: Test the five-speed manual or six-speed automatic you intend to buy in traffic and on the roads you use.
- Trim and quote: Match equipment against the exact variant’s on-road quotation for your city.
- Passenger and cargo use: Try the cabin with your usual passengers, then check how much luggage fits with the third row in its normal position.
What are the Ertiga’s dimensions and luggage capacity?
Maruti Suzuki lists the Ertiga at 4,395 mm long, 1,735 mm wide and 1,690 mm high, with a 2,740 mm wheelbase. The company states 209 litres of boot space with the third row in use and 803 litres with it folded. Those capacities describe different seating arrangements: folding the third row increases cargo room but means fewer seats are available. Sit in each row and check access, seat-belt reach, headroom, knee and foot room with the people who will actually travel in the car; a seven-seat rating does not establish that every passenger will find every seat comfortable.
What mileage does the Ertiga claim?
Maruti Suzuki’s 2025 brochure gives the following variant-specific fuel-efficiency figures. They are manufacturer-stated claims, not results from an independent road test or a guarantee of what an owner will achieve.

How should you estimate running costs?
There is no single reliable ownership-cost figure without your usage and local prices. For a useful comparison, estimate fuel first, then add the costs that depend on your circumstances.

- Estimate your annual kilometres from your normal journeys rather than an aspirational figure.
- Use current local petrol and CNG prices. Compare the fuel options using your expected distance and the brochure figures only as manufacturer claims, not guaranteed consumption.
- Include the transmission and trim you would actually buy; their purchase prices and use may differ.
- Get a city-specific, itemized on-road quote and account separately for insurance, financing and maintenance. The available manufacturer information does not establish local insurance prices or a complete ownership-cost total.
- Ask for written details and current prices for any extended warranty or service package you are considering, and include them only if their terms suit your ownership plans.
What features and safety equipment should you verify?
Maruti Suzuki describes six airbags as standard and lists features including the HEARTECT platform, hill-hold assist, ABS with EBD and tyre-pressure monitoring. Confirm the equipment on the exact trim and vehicle: the manufacturer notes that features can vary by variant, and the model page alone does not establish how every feature is fitted or operated on every car. Check the actual car and the owner’s manual rather than assuming that a feature shown for the range is present in your chosen version.
The model page lists the petrol Smart Hybrid output as 75.8 kW at 6,000 rpm and 139.0 Nm at 4,300 rpm. These are published specifications, not independent performance measurements.

What should you check on a test drive?
- Bring likely passengers. Try entry and exit for all three rows, then check headroom, knee and foot room, seat belts and comfort.
- Pack for your usual trip. Test the boot with the third row in the position you expect to use; the official figures distinguish between the row raised and folded.
- Drive the exact version. Test the fuel type and transmission under consideration. On a representative route, assess low-speed response, braking feel, visibility, parking and hill starts.
- Inspect the exact trim. Confirm airbags, safety equipment, tyre-pressure display, infotainment and comfort features against the car itself and its variant specification.
What should you check before buying a used Ertiga?
These are general inspection prompts, not a certification of any particular vehicle. Review the car in person and verify its records before committing.
- Ask for service invoices and review ownership and accident records.
- Verify registration and insurance details.
- Check tyre age and wear, warning lights, and heating, ventilation and air conditioning operation in all rows.
- For a CNG car, check the CNG equipment and documents as part of the inspection.
- Drive the car and confirm that the engine, gearbox, brakes and other systems behave normally; seek a qualified inspection if you are unsure.
What price, delivery and coverage should you confirm?
At the time of the manufacturer-page check, Maruti Suzuki’s official variant and pricing page showed an ex-showroom starting price of ₹8,90,000 for the LXi manual and a waiting estimate of 2+ months. Both can change. The manufacturer says invoice-time prices and schemes apply, so these figures are not a current city-specific quote or a delivery promise. Confirm the price, stock and expected delivery directly with a dealer for your location.

Ask the dealer for an itemized on-road quotation, a delivery estimate, the warranty start date and written terms for any extended warranty or Customer Convenience Package. Maruti Suzuki’s service page describes its packages, but current prices, eligibility and terms need confirmation. To check the right instructions for your car, use the official manual portal and match the manual to its fuel type and sale date; the portal lists Ertiga petrol manuals for cars sold on or after 09.07.2024, as well as CNG and audio manual options.
