The gold-laden Rolls-Royce Spectre in this story is Mansory’s Equista Linea d’Oro, a heavily customized electric coupe—not a factory trim level and not a petroleum-powered car. Its gold-finished details, extensive body treatment and exterior speakers that play artificial engine sounds make it a conspicuous exercise in automotive theater. Calling that “petroleum-fueled” is an ironic critique of the spectacle, not a description of its drivetrain or a proven account of its owner’s motives.
The car behind the headline is Mansory’s Equista Linea d’Oro
Reporting identifies the vehicle as Mansory’s Equista Linea d’Oro, a custom Rolls-Royce Spectre. The makeover reportedly includes gold-finished exterior details, carbon-fiber bodywork, 24-inch wheels and speakers mounted outside the car to play artificial engine sounds. Those are features attributed to this Mansory build, not equipment fitted to every Spectre. Carscoops’ report and Autoblog’s December 20, 2025 report describe the customization.
The headline’s “vulgar” is a value judgment about conspicuous display. “Petroleum-fueled wealth” is similarly rhetorical: it evokes the traditional symbolism of loud, extravagant motoring, while this Spectre itself is electric. The reports do not establish the owner’s energy source, politics or reason for commissioning the car, so the interpretation belongs to the styling and simulated sound—not to claims about the person who owns it.
What is custom, and what is the car’s actual powertrain?
The gold and bodywork are Mansory’s treatment
Rolls-Royce offers its own Bespoke personalization, including paint and coachline choices, but the Equista Linea d’Oro is a separate tuner project. The gold finish and reported body modifications should therefore be credited to Mansory’s build rather than described as standard Rolls-Royce specification. The artificial sound does not make it a combustion car
The car remains an electric Spectre, according to the reporting on the build. The exterior speakers add a theatrical sound effect; they do not show that the vehicle burns fuel or has an engine producing that sound. Rolls-Royce’s June 2, 2026 announcement of Spectre Series II likewise describes Spectre as an electric model. That newer announcement is model context only: the available reporting does not establish that the Equista is a Series II.
Why the “petroleum” description is an ironic contrast
Luxury-car excess is often coded through visual abundance and engine noise. Here the gold details and oversized wheels supply the display, while external speakers simulate the sound traditionally associated with a powerful combustion car. Pairing that performance with an electric drivetrain creates the headline’s contrast: petroleum is a metaphor for an old image of wealth and motoring, not a technical description of this vehicle.

One Reddit commenter used the phrase “Petroleum pimpin’” in a discussion of a gold Rolls-Royce, but that is an isolated reaction, not evidence of a broad audience view or a definitive reference to this particular Mansory car. The comment appears in an r/carspotting post.

Autoblog’s headline gives the car a $1.6 million figure, but a headline estimate does not establish the price paid in a completed transaction. The cited reporting does not confirm the Equista’s final sale price, so it is more accurate to describe the build as exceptionally elaborate than to present a specific total as fact.
