PerthNow also reported that some friends performed burnouts and skids, posted footage on social media and blocked motorists. That behaviour was described in the coverage as part of the gathering; it does not change the reported circumstances of the collision.
How Rex Mason was remembered
A family tribute shared through a fundraiser described Mason as “full of life” and recalled his cheeky grin and passion for motorbikes. The West Australian reproduced the family’s words: “Rex was the kind of kid who could light up a room just by walking into it. He was only just beginning his life, taken away from us all far too early.”
Coast FM reported fundraiser organiser Sine Ovens sharing the family’s description of Mason as having “a heart that made everyone around him feel welcome.” The reports said the fundraiser was intended to help with funeral costs and support the family; any amount raised at the time should not be read as a current total.
