If a short Sprinter camper feels cramped but a near-seven-metre van seems too large, Malibu’s Genius 641 LE is designed to sit between them. The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter-based “motorhome van” measures about 6.4 metres, with two lengthways beds and a large rear garage. That middle-ground idea is the Goldilocks framing—not proof that its size is right for every traveller.
What is the Malibu Genius 641 LE?
The Genius 641 LE is a Malibu motorhome built on a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter base. It is not a separate Mercedes-Benz factory body style. Malibu attributes the model’s extra living and storage space to a fixed rear extension made with GRP sandwich construction. The extension creates a substantial rear overhang behind the Sprinter’s 3,665 mm wheelbase, so overall length alone does not tell the whole story about where it will fit or how it will manoeuvre.
Malibu’s current product overview gives an overall length of 6.41 m. Its English 641 LE page lists dimensions of 640.3 × 202 × 268.5 cm, while the manufacturer’s 2026 specification sheet gives 6,403 × 2,020 × 2,685 mm. The sources differ slightly on length; neither explains why, so treat these as source-specific published figures rather than trying to reconcile them.
How the layout uses the extra length
Two lengthways beds
The rear sleeping area has two single beds arranged lengthways. Malibu’s product page says lying length is up to 2 m. The 2026 sheet gives more precise bed dimensions: 2,030 × 930 mm and 1,960 × 850 mm. Check the specific layout in person if either sleeper needs a particular usable length or width.

Rear garage
Malibu quotes 1,400 litres of rear garage volume, with a usable width of 1.52 m and access height of about 1.05 m. The manufacturer says bed height can be adjusted to make room for taller cargo. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements; confirm the opening and usable space against the items you plan to carry.
Lounge and bathroom
Swivelling cab seats help form a lounge for four, according to Malibu. The bathroom and shower arrangement expands into the living area when used. AUTO BILD’s February 2025 review also describes the extended shower and calls attention to the rear overhang; promobil’s April 2025 coverage identifies the unusual extension and short wheelbase as central to the concept. Those descriptions make the layout worth inspecting, but do not establish that it will feel comfortable to every buyer or handle better than another van.

Key specifications in Malibu’s 2026 sheet

Weight, drivetrain and price need a market-specific check
The 2026 sheet lists two gross-weight ratings and a range for mass in running order. AUTO BILD reported in February 2025 that options can push the vehicle beyond a 3.5-tonne configuration, and described a 4.1-tonne version. Its review also reported engine choices of 150, 170 or 190 hp, a 9G-Tronic automatic transmission and optional all-wheel drive. These choices may vary by market and model year. Ask a dealer to confirm the specification and availability of the exact vehicle, then check its weight plate and remaining payload after options. Licence rules depend on your jurisdiction, so verify them locally rather than assuming a particular weight rating is suitable.

- Custom Fit: Designed for 2007–current Mercedes-Benz Sprinter high roof vans, this cab curtain creates a clean separation between the cab and living space with a precise, factory-style fit. Requires a curtain rod for installation (rod not included); compatible with VANNCAMP headliner shelf and shelf cover for a clean, integrated look
- Thermal Control: Multi-layer construction with reflective aluminum film and XPE core helps block heat in summer and retain warmth in winter. Cool down the cab faster with AC, or heat a smaller space instead of the entire van for improved comfort in any season
- Full Privacy: Blocks outside visibility to create a secure, private space inside your van. Blackout design helps reduce light leaks, making it ideal for sleeping, changing, or stealth camping
- Magnetic Closure: Strong center magnets create a secure seal for quick access and daily use. Keeps the curtain firmly closed while driving or parked without complicated adjustments
- Easy Install: No tools required. Installs in minutes and folds compactly when not in use. Removable lower panels (Velcro) allow space for under-seat heaters or full blackout, while side straps keep the curtain neatly secured when rolled up
Malibu’s English product page currently displays a UK starting price of £88,240. That is a market-specific advertised base price, not a universal or guaranteed transaction price. AUTO BILD’s February 2025 review said realistically equipped examples can exceed six figures; that is dated reporting, not a current quote.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is the Genius the right-size Sprinter camper?
It is best assessed as a particular compromise: a roughly 6.4-metre vehicle that uses its fixed extension for long beds and a large rear garage, while retaining the Sprinter’s 3,665 mm wheelbase. The extension adds useful space but also creates a longer body and rear overhang. Neither the “Goldilocks” label nor the published specifications establish that it will be easier to drive, park or live in than a shorter or longer alternative.
