A June 2025 spy-image report speculated that a camouflaged Mahindra SUV could be the Thar Electric, but it also said the vehicle might be a next-generation Bolero Neo. Mahindra has not confirmed that the mule was an electric Thar. The clearest look at the idea so far comes from two concepts: Vision Thar.e, shown in 2023, and Vision T, unveiled in 2025 as an evolution of that design.
Was a production Mahindra Thar Electric spied?
GaadiWaadi reported on June 5, 2025, that spy images showed a new Mahindra SUV that might be a production-spec Thar Electric. The article also left open another possibility: a next-generation Bolero Neo. It credited the images to Motowagon, but the report did not establish the vehicle’s identity or powertrain. That makes “Thar Electric spied” a reported identification, not a confirmed Mahindra model sighting. Mahindra has not announced a production Thar Electric’s specifications, price, powertrain or launch date in the cited announcements.
Vision Thar.e and Vision T: how the concepts differ
Vision Thar.e and Vision T are related design studies, not two confirmed production versions of an electric Thar. Mahindra introduced Vision Thar.e in 2023 as an electric off-road SUV concept. In 2025, it presented Vision T among four concepts for its NU_IQ modular, multi-energy platform. Autocar India described Vision T as an evolution of Thar.e. The differences below refer to the concepts and the information announced about them.

What Vision T’s exterior design shows
Vision T keeps the upright, rugged character associated with the earlier Thar.e concept while giving it a revised face and more overt off-road detailing. Autocar India’s unveiling report notes horizontal grille slats, bonnet latches, pronounced wheel arches and a spare wheel mounted on the tailgate. Those details belong to the concept on display; they do not establish the final shape or equipment of a production SUV.

What the Vision T interior looks like
The Vision T concept cabin combines digital displays with physical controls. Autocar India reported a separate digital instrument cluster and a portrait-format central touchscreen, alongside switchgear on the console and a three-spoke steering wheel. A panoramic sunroof was also present on the concept.
This is a visual description of the unveiled concept, not confirmation of a production interior. Mahindra has not published a full Vision T technical specification in the cited material. The 2023 Vision Thar.e cabin was described differently: Mahindra emphasized a pivoting central screen, grab handles and a pared-back, functional layout. Neither set of concept features should be treated as guaranteed equipment in a future Thar EV.

Is Vision T an electric Thar?
Vision T is related to the Thar.e idea, but Mahindra’s 2025 announcement does not identify it as an electric-only Thar or confirm a production Thar Electric. The distinction matters because NU_IQ is described as a multi-energy platform. Autocar India reported that it can accommodate electric and internal-combustion powertrains, as well as front- or all-wheel drive; those are platform capabilities, not a confirmed drivetrain choice for Vision T.
Mahindra’s announcement said SUVs based on NU_IQ would begin entering production in 2027. It did not name a Thar Electric launch date or say which NU_IQ concept would reach production first. See Mahindra’s Global Vision 2027 announcement.
