Lotus’s current press specifications list the Turbo and Turbo SE with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission; its May 2026 announcement adds the 420 Sport, with higher output and track-focused options. Here are the figures, with their dates and qualifications.
What engine does the Lotus Emira have?
It depends on the version. Lotus’s current press specifications list the Emira Turbo and Turbo SE with a 1,991 cc turbocharged inline-four and an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. In a separate announcement dated May 26, 2026, Lotus described the 420 Sport as a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder, also paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. These are variant-specific manufacturer specifications, not conflicting descriptions of one car. Lotus Emira press specifications; Lotus’s 420 Sport announcement.
The range has changed since the Emira’s launch. In July 2021, Lotus described an initial lineup with a 2.0-litre turbo engine from technical partner AMG and a 3.5-litre supercharged V6, and said manual, automatic and dual-clutch transmission choices would be available across the range. That launch-era description is useful context, not proof that every engine or transmission remains available in every market or model year today. Check current local specifications when shopping. How fast is a Lotus Emira?
Lotus’s published figures differ by variant. The Turbo and Turbo SE figures below are from Lotus Cars’ press specifications accessed in 2026; the 420 Sport figures come from Lotus Technology’s May 2026 announcement. Acceleration is the manufacturer’s 0–62 mph (0–100 km/h) claim.

Sources: Lotus Cars press specifications and Lotus Technology’s 420 Sport announcement. PS and bhp are different units, so the 420 Sport’s 420 PS should not be treated as a directly interchangeable label for the Turbo SE’s 400 bhp. These are manufacturer figures; they are not independent test results.
What is different about the Emira 420 Sport?
Lotus announced the 420 Sport on May 26, 2026 as a separate variant. The company specifies 420 PS and 500 Nm, with a claimed 0–62 mph time of 3.9 seconds and a 186 mph top speed. Lotus also says the car has a 5 mm lower ride height. These details apply to the announced 420 Sport, not automatically to other Emiras. Lotus’s announcement.

Is the Lotus Emira available with a manual?
Lotus’s July 2021 launch announcement said manual, automatic and dual-clutch transmission choices would be offered across the initial range. The current Turbo and Turbo SE press specifications list an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, and Lotus lists the same transmission for the 420 Sport announced in May 2026. The available gearbox therefore depends on version, model year and market; the launch-era statement alone does not establish that a new manual Emira can be ordered now. Ask a Lotus retailer to confirm availability for the specific market and model year. 2021 launch announcement; current press specifications; 420 Sport announcement.

How much does the Lotus Emira cost?
For the 420 Sport, Lotus announced these starting prices on May 26, 2026:
| Market | Announced starting price |
|---|---|
| Europe | €129,900 |

They are announcement prices, not a guarantee of today’s local price, inventory or transaction cost. What are the Emira’s dimensions?
Lotus’s July 2021 launch announcement gave the Emira’s dimensions as 4,412 mm long, 1,895 mm wide, 1,225 mm high, with a 2,575 mm wheelbase. The 420 Sport announcement later specified a ride height 5 mm lower, so do not assume the launch-era height describes that variant exactly. The 2021 announcement also identified a bonded aluminium chassis and double-wishbone suspension; those are manufacturer descriptions, not evidence by themselves of comparative handling or reliability. 2021 launch announcement; 420 Sport announcement.

Start with the version actually offered in your market and model year, then compare the things that change the ownership or driving experience:

- Detailed model kit in scale 1:24, length: 168 mm, width: 73 mm
- The high-quality kit from Tamiya must be assembled by yourself.
- Tools, glue and paints are not included with the plastic kit. These must be purchased optionally.
- International products have separate terms, are sold from abroad and may differ from local products, including fit, age ratings, and language of product, labeling or instructions.
- Engine and output: the Turbo and Turbo SE are listed with the same 1,991 cc engine but different power figures; the 420 Sport is separately specified at 420 PS and 500 Nm.
- Gearbox: current press figures for these three variants specify an eight-speed dual-clutch. The manual mentioned at launch is historical context, not confirmation of current availability.
- Performance: compare acceleration and top speed using the exact variant’s manufacturer claims, rather than treating the figures as independent test results.
- Equipment: check whether the car has optional items such as the 420 Sport’s Lightweight Handling Pack. Lotus also announced a removable tinted glass roof panel available across the Emira range; verify whether it is fitted and offered in your market before assuming it is included on a specific car.
- Price: compare a current, local quote with options, taxes and delivery charges accounted for. The 420 Sport prices above were announced starting prices, not a full on-road quote.
For the roof panel and 420 Sport equipment details, see Lotus’s announcement.
Where can you find the right Emira handbook?
Lotus says the correct driver handbook depends on the car’s VIN. Its support page provides Emira handbook downloads for model years 2022–2025 and 2026, along with warranty-guide links. Match the VIN and model year before using a handbook, particularly when checking controls or vehicle-specific guidance. Lotus driver handbooks and support.
