There is not enough comparable evidence to rank ten motorcycles reliably by range. The figures available mix a manufacturer’s approximate claim, estimates calculated from official specifications and distances recorded in one limited test. They can still identify useful examples—but not a definitive “top 10.”
How to compare motorcycle range
A motorcycle’s range depends on both fuel capacity and fuel consumption. A large tank alone does not establish how far the bike will travel, and a calculated full-tank distance is not a safe refueling interval.
- Manufacturer range claim: The maker publishes an approximate distance, as Yamaha does for the Ténéré 700 World Raid.
- Calculated nominal range: Multiply tank capacity by distance per unit of fuel, or divide capacity by consumption per distance. This is an estimate, not a promise of usable range.
- Observed test distance: A publication reports how far a bike traveled between fills in a particular comparison. That result reflects that test’s conditions and should not be treated as universal.
Model year and market matter, too. Specifications can differ by region, while riding conditions affect real-world consumption. The figures below are therefore labeled by source and evidence type.
Documented range examples
| Motorcycle and specification | Published inputs or observed distance | What the figure means |
|---|---|---|
| Yamaha Ténéré 700 World Raid, 2026; Australia | 23 L total capacity; Yamaha says around 500 km | Manufacturer’s approximate range claim, not a standardized comparison. |
| Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sports ES, 2026; UK | 24.8 L tank; 20.5 km/L; about 508 km (316 miles) calculated | Nominal full-tank estimate from Honda’s published specifications. Reserve and riding conditions affect usable distance. |
| Honda NT1100, 2026; UK | 20.4 L tank; 5.0 L/100 km; about 408 km (254 miles) calculated | Nominal estimate calculated from Honda’s published specifications. |
| BMW R 1300 GS Adventure; UK specifications | 4.9 L/100 km, based on WMTC | The cited specification does not include tank capacity, so it is not enough to calculate range. |
| Honda Gold Wing Tour, 2026; US | 5.5 US gallons capacity | The cited specifications do not provide fuel consumption; capacity alone cannot establish range. |
The Yamaha figure comes from Yamaha Motor Australia’s 2025 announcement for the 2026 model. Honda’s UK specifications underpin the calculated figures for the Africa Twin Adventure Sports ES and NT1100. The BMW consumption figure is from BMW Motorrad UK’s R 1300 GS Adventure technical data; the Gold Wing capacity is from Honda’s US Gold Wing Tour specifications.

What one motorcycle comparison measured
A 2026 Motorcycle News comparison excerpt reports these between-fill distances:
| Motorcycle | Distance reported in the comparison |
|---|---|
| Ducati Multistrada V4 S | 201.8 miles |
| BMW R 1300 GS | 178 miles |
| KTM 1390 Super Adventure S | 196.3 miles |
These are results from that comparison, not standardized category-wide range figures or a complete ranking. They should not be compared as if they were measured under the same conditions as a manufacturer estimate or a calculation from specifications. Motorcycle News’ comparison is the source for the reported test distances.

Why this is not a top-ten ranking
The available figures do not cover ten motorcycles using one consistent method. Some provide capacity and consumption, one gives an approximate manufacturer range, and the comparison excerpt reports test-specific distances for only three selected bikes. Combining them into a ranked list would imply a level of comparability the evidence does not support.
For a useful buying comparison, look for fuel capacity, consumption measured or estimated on a comparable basis, the model year and market, and whether a distance is claimed, calculated or observed in a test. For a trip, treat nominal estimates as planning context rather than a refueling target; fuel use changes with speed, load, route and conditions.
