The third, NHTSA campaign 24V-601, addressed a high-voltage fuse that could fail after repeated rapid acceleration and cut propulsion. The campaigns involved different defects, and only a VIN lookup can show whether a particular motorcycle has an open, unrepaired recall.
What was the third LiveWire S2 Del Mar recall?
Campaign 1003, announced in August 2024 and recorded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) as recall 24V-601, covered a high-voltage fuse that could degrade or open after repeated rapid acceleration. If it opened, the motorcycle could unexpectedly lose propulsion without warning, increasing crash risk. LiveWire’s owner notice said the fuse issue did not affect other electrical functions such as ABS, turn signals, or lighting. NHTSA recall 24V-601
The remedy was replacement of the high-voltage fuse with one of an increased amperage rating, at no charge through an authorized dealer. LiveWire estimated the service could take up to 1.5 hours; that historical estimate is not a guarantee of current appointment duration. Do not attempt this high-voltage repair yourself.
What did the first two safety campaigns cover?
The three campaigns addressed separate defects, not three repetitions of one problem. Their remedies are different and are not interchangeable.

How many motorcycles were covered?
For Campaign 1003 only, LiveWire reported 788 potentially involved motorcycles across the S2 Del Mar and S2 Mulholland, including 574 2024 S2 Del Mar motorcycles in the model population. LiveWire estimated that 2 percent had the defect, but said it could not estimate the percentage of vehicles that would actually exhibit it: whether the defect caused a propulsion shutdown depended on operating conditions over time. These figures do not represent the combined population for all three campaigns. NHTSA 24V-601
How do I check my LiveWire VIN for recalls?
- Find the motorcycle’s 17-character VIN.
- Enter it in the NHTSA VIN recall lookup and LiveWire’s recall lookup.
- If either lookup identifies an unrepaired campaign, contact an authorized LiveWire dealer to arrange the remedy and confirm current scheduling.
NHTSA’s VIN search reports whether a specific vehicle has an unrepaired recall; a model-year story or campaign population alone cannot establish whether an individual bike is affected or repaired. NHTSA says recall repairs are free at the manufacturer’s dealership. NHTSA recall guidance

Is the S2 Del Mar TCU program a recall?
Not according to LiveWire’s March 25, 2025 owner notice: Product Program 1901 was a separate connectivity and service program, not a safety recall. It applied to certain S2 Del Mar and Mulholland motorcycles whose early TCU software had not been updated. LiveWire said the issue limited TCU function and the ability to receive future firmware updates, but did not affect vehicle performance or safety. If not updated before the scheduled August 31, 2025 cloud change, connected services in the S2 app would stop. Dealers were asked to inspect and/or replace the TCU at no cost through March 25, 2027.
