Corey Salvador, a 16-year-old, died after a motorbike crash at the intersection of Southwell Crescent and Phoenix Road in Hamilton Hill, Perth, on the evening of February 21, 2023. Family and friends later left flowers and tributes near the intersection.
Who was Corey Salvador?
PerthNow identified the teenager as Corey Salvador, aged 16, in a report published on February 23, 2023. The report focused on the loss felt by his family and friends, who gathered and mourned together after his death.
Where and when did the crash happen?
According to PerthNow’s contemporaneous report, the crash occurred at about 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 21, at Southwell Crescent and Phoenix Road in Hamilton Hill, Perth. The report said a red Honda off-road motorbike collided with a silver Kia Sportage.
What happened after the collision?
Salvador suffered critical injuries and was taken to Fiona Stanley Hospital, where he died a short time later. The Kia driver was reported uninjured.

Family and friends placed flowers and other tributes on a median near the intersection. PerthNow described messages left on a helmet and friends grieving together at the scene.
What was known about the cause?
At the time of PerthNow’s report, major crash officers were examining the scene. Police Commissioner Col Blanch described reports of reckless riding as an “early indication” that was subject to the investigation into what led to the crash. That was not a finding of cause. No later investigation or court outcome is established here.
