Cristy Lee’s story begins with a family garage, a backyard greenhouse and a BMW restoration that never became the finished hand-me-down her father hoped to give her. Those details, shared in her official biography, help explain the range of work that followed: radio, motorsports reporting, automotive television, motorcycles and home design. Here are the documented details behind the TV host’s career—without treating “secrets” as a license for rumor.
Her childhood brought cars and motorcycles close to home
Lee’s official biography says she grew up outside Daytona Beach, Florida, in a family environment shaped by her father’s projects. He designed and built a backyard greenhouse filled with orchids, alongside a pool and stone waterfall. The same biography recalls Lee as a toddler riding behind him on a dirt bike, with her hands resting on the handlebars as he rode around the yard. That was an early glimpse of the machines that would become part of her work—not evidence that she was operating the bike or receiving formal riding instruction.
Her father also worked on a classic BMW 2002 in his import shop and home garage. According to Lee’s account, he spent years restoring it with the hope of giving it to her when she was old enough. “The car never came to fruition,” her biography says. It does not explain why, so the significance is the unfinished project and the time she spent around it, not a claim that she ultimately received the car.
How she went from Daytona Beach to Detroit radio
Lee’s official biography describes a move to Detroit after college, initially tied to an effort to invest in real estate. She began working in radio there before pursuing motorsports broadcasting. The account connects several strands of her later career—property, communication and motorsports—but does not establish an exact year for the move.

In 2019, Warner Bros. Discovery announced that Lee would join Garage Squad as a co-host for season six, noting her earlier work on All Girls Garage and Barrett-Jackson LIVE. The announcement is a dated record of that casting, not a statement about the show’s present status.
Her work also reaches home renovation. HGTV’s biography identifies Lee as host of Steal This House, a Detroit-based series, and notes her appearance as host of Celebrity IOU Joyride and her role on All Girls Garage. These credits show how automotive and renovation work have both featured in her on-camera career.

Motorcycles are a major interest beyond her TV work
Lee’s current official site says her motorcycle passion takes a close second to her automotive interests and describes riding on track, street, dirt trails and mini-moto circuits. In the site’s own words: “My roots in everything automotive, Real Estate, and home renovation run deep, but all take a close-second to my passion for motorcycles!”
Her official pages give different durations for her riding experience: the homepage says “over 20 years,” while the About page says “over 18 years.” Because the pages do not reconcile those descriptions, neither figure should be treated as a precise, independently verified timeline.
