Lift Foils positions the LIFT5 as its carbon flagship for a conventional powered eFoil ride and the LIFTX as a lighter, surf-oriented system for riders who want help catching waves, swell, or downwind conditions. The main differences are their intended use, propulsion and battery setup, board choices, and Lift’s stated ride-time figures—not a verified head-to-head performance result.
What Lift means by “simpler and surfier”
The distinction is about how Lift expects riders to use the boards. LIFT5 is built around a traditional powered eFoil experience: ride under electric power and choose among several board sizes. LIFTX is designed to provide powered assistance in surf, swell, and downwind foiling, rather than simply serving as a smaller LIFT5.
Lift describes the LIFT5 as using a drop-in wireless Gen5 battery and its Lift Connect System (LCS), with tool-free component changes. The LIFTX uses a different, smaller propulsion and battery setup, and Lift says its propulsion folds. These are manufacturer descriptions; the product pages do not establish how either system performs in independent testing.

Which board fits your riding?
Choose LIFT5 for a powered eFoil ride and more board-size options
LIFT5 is the more natural fit if your priority is a conventional electric-foil session and you want to select a board suited to your experience and weight. Lift’s support guide lists four LIFT5-family boards with different volumes and intended rider profiles:
| Board | Volume | Width | Lift-listed maximum rider weight | Lift’s stated fit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4’4 Pro | 55 L | 22.5 in | 190 lb | Experienced riders seeking a tight, surf-like feel |
| 4’9 Sport | 67 L | 25 in | 220 lb | All-rounder |
| 5’4 Cruiser | 83 L | 27.5 in | 250 lb | Stable, forgiving option for families and newer riders |
| 5’2 Laird | 64 L | 23.5 in | 220 lb | Bigger riders seeking lower swing weight and mixed-condition use |
These are Lift’s specifications and fit recommendations, listed in its support guide on June 10, 2026; they are not independent riding advice. Confirm board suitability with Lift or a qualified dealer, particularly if rider weight or experience is near a listed limit.

Choose LIFTX if powered assistance is meant to complement foil riding
Lift positions LIFTX for riders already comfortable on foil who want electric assistance in surf, swell, or downwind conditions. Its smaller stated battery and folding propulsion distinguish it from LIFT5, but the available product information does not establish a direct performance comparison or prove that one system is better in particular water conditions.

How to decide
- Start with the ride. For a traditional powered eFoil session, compare the LIFT5 models. For powered support while riding surf, swell, or downwind, consider LIFTX if you are already comfortable on foil.
- Match the board to the rider. Use Lift’s listed dimensions and weight recommendations as a starting point, then confirm fit with Lift or a qualified dealer.
- Compare the system and ride-time claims. LIFT5 has the larger listed battery and propulsion; LIFTX has folding propulsion and a smaller listed battery. Treat each ride-time figure as Lift’s estimate, not a promise or a controlled model comparison.
- Check the live price and configuration. Lift’s lineup page listed LIFT5 F at $10,999, LIFTX at $13,999, and LIFT5 at $14,999 when accessed in 2026. Confirm current pricing and included components directly with Lift or a dealer before ordering.
