LG Electronics and Microsoft announced plans to bring Xbox Cloud Gaming to select internet-connected vehicles through LG’s webOS Automotive Content Platform (ACP). The September 2025 announcement described the feature as forthcoming—not as a service already available in specific cars. The announcements reviewed do not establish a consumer launch date, supported vehicle models, or geographic availability as of October 4, 2026.
How Xbox gaming in cars is supposed to work
This is cloud gaming integrated into a vehicle infotainment platform, not an announcement that Xbox consoles will be built into cars. The Xbox app is intended to run through LG webOS ACP. Passengers would open the app on the vehicle’s infotainment system, sign in to Game Pass, connect a compatible Bluetooth controller, and stream a game. Xbox says streaming requires an automotive data plan; LG describes the experience as requiring supported internet access. These are announced requirements, not independent test results. Xbox’s announcement and LG’s announcement do not identify a minimum connection speed or data allowance.
- Vehicle platform: LG webOS Automotive Content Platform (ACP) in select internet-connected vehicles.
- Account: Game Pass Ultimate, according to LG’s announcement.
- Controller: A compatible Bluetooth controller; the announcements do not name approved models.
- Connectivity: Internet access and an automotive data plan for streaming.
Which games are included?
The September 2025 announcements offer examples, not a guaranteed or permanent in-car catalog. Xbox named Gears of War: Reloaded and Forza Horizon 5, among other titles, and said Game Pass Ultimate subscribers could stream select games they own, citing Bugsnax, Don’t Starve, and Mafia: The Old Country as examples. LG also named Doom: The Dark Ages and Forza Horizon 5. Check the current Xbox announcement and service catalog for present-day game availability; the 2025 examples alone do not confirm what can be streamed now.
Is Xbox Cloud Gaming available in cars now?
The official announcements establish a planned integration, but not a confirmed consumer rollout. On September 9, 2025, Xbox said it was working with LG to integrate the experience and that Game Pass Ultimate members would have access “soon.” LG used similar forthcoming language that day. A September 23, 2025 LG executive follow-up discussed integration and certification work, but did not provide a customer launch date or supported-model list.

Passenger entertainment, not gaming while driving
Xbox says the services are intended to comply with driving safety regulations, while LG presents the feature as passenger gaming. The announcements do not establish that playing is permitted while a vehicle is moving in every jurisdiction. Drivers should not play while driving and should follow local law and the vehicle’s instructions.

What LG’s platform figures do—and do not—show
LG said it aims to supply its webOS-based ACP to 20 million vehicles by 2030. That is a company goal for the platform, not a count of vehicles already equipped with ACP or capable of running Xbox Cloud Gaming. LG also cited more than 240 million smart TVs worldwide using webOS as platform context; that figure is not a measure of in-car installations. LG’s September 2025 announcement attributes the vehicle goal to Vehicle Solution Company president Seokhyun Eun.

The Xbox and LG announcements do not state a vehicle-specific data cost, minimum internet speed, offline option, latency or performance measurements, supported controller models, or confirmed vehicle lineup. They also do not establish customer pricing beyond identifying Game Pass Ultimate as a requirement in LG’s announcement. Avoid treating any of these details as settled until an official product or vehicle compatibility notice specifies them.
