The October 13 date referred to a Toyota teaser campaign in October 2025—not a confirmed 2026 reveal of a Lexus LFR. The teaser left the car’s make and model uncertain. Lexus later announced a different, officially named vehicle: the battery-electric Lexus LFA Concept. It remains a concept, not confirmation of a production LFR.
What the October 13 date referred to
On October 10, 2025, MotorTrend reported on a billboard at Fuji Speedway showing a Toyota 2000GT, a Lexus LFA and the front of a new car bearing a visible GR badge. Toyota’s teaser pointed to an announcement on October 13. At the time, the billboard did not establish whether the new vehicle was a Toyota or a Lexus.
The report also distinguished the camouflaged car from the Lexus Sport Concept shown at The Quail in 2025. That left open the possibility of separate Toyota and Lexus sports-car projects. An LFR was a possibility discussed around the teaser, not an identity confirmed by it. The October 13 forecast was a 2025 teaser-related announcement, not evidence of an October 2026 Lexus event.
What Lexus announced afterward
On December 5, 2025, Lexus announced the Lexus LFA Concept as a battery-electric sports-car concept being developed alongside Toyota Gazoo Racing’s GR GT and GR GT3. Lexus said the concept’s exterior and interior had previously been shown as the Lexus Sport Concept at Monterey Car Week and the Japan Mobility Show 2025; the December announcement added partial specifications and the LFA Concept name.

The announcement identifies a concept, not a production LFR. It does not establish that the LFA Concept and a rumored LFR are the same vehicle, or confirm an LFR production model. Lexus describes a range of powertrain approaches across the wider development effort: the LFA Concept explores battery-electric sports-car potential, while the GR GT and GR GT3 program spans road-going and circuit-tuned hybrid systems as well as battery-electric technology.
What is confirmed about the LFA Concept
Lexus’s 2025 release lists these dimensions and seating capacity for the concept. They are not production LFR specifications.

The concept’s next public milestone
On July 20, 2026, Lexus Canada reported that the LFA Concept had made its first dynamic drives at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, after it had been expected to appear only as a static display. Lexus Canada described it as a concept and as the brand’s vision for a next-generation electric sports car. This is evidence of the concept being driven publicly, not an announcement of a production LFR.

- Established: Toyota’s October 2025 teaser pointed to an October 13 announcement, and contemporary reporting said the car’s identity was uncertain.
- Established: Lexus subsequently named and described the LFA Concept as a battery-electric sports-car concept, developed alongside the GR GT and GR GT3.
- Not established by these announcements: that the teased car was a Lexus LFR, that the LFA Concept is a production LFR, or that a production LFR has confirmed specifications or a launch date.
The Lexus LFA Concept is the official Lexus sports-car concept announced after the teaser. The available announcements do not verify an LFR reveal or rule out a separate future Lexus announcement.
