The video publisher offered those identifications as possibilities. Toyota’s later official announcements named a road-going GR GT, a GR GT3 race car and a separate all-electric Lexus LFA Concept; they do not identify the 2024 car as an LFR.
What the Nürburgring video actually confirms
CarSpyMedia published footage on October 29, 2024, showing a test car at the Nürburgring. The publisher described it as a possible road-going Lexus LFA successor and suggested it might be called LFR. Those are the video publisher’s interpretations, not a name or successor claim confirmed by Toyota or Lexus.
The distinction matters: the sighting is real as published footage, but its model identity remains unestablished by the official sources reviewed. Toyota later said it tested the GR GT and GR GT3 at the Nürburgring, but that does not establish that either car—or an LFR—appears in the 2024 video.
What Toyota and Lexus officially announced
On December 5, 2025, Toyota announced the world premiere of three distinct programs: the Toyota Gazoo Racing GR GT, the GR GT3, and the Lexus LFA Concept. Toyota called the GR GT “a new GR-brand flagship sports car that further advances the making of ever-better motorsports-bred cars.” The company did not call it an LFA successor, and the announcement does not confirm a production Lexus named LFR.

|---|---|---|---|
| GR GT | Toyota Gazoo Racing road-going flagship | Hybrid system with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 and one electric motor | Prototype in development; Toyota published development targets, not final certified production specifications |

Toyota presents the three programs as flagships sharing development aspirations, including a low center of gravity, low weight with high rigidity, and aerodynamic performance. Shared philosophy does not make them one model or establish the LFA Concept as the rumored LFR.
GR GT: what its numbers mean
Toyota describes the GR GT as front-engine and rear-wheel drive. Its hybrid system pairs a newly developed 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with a single electric motor. A rear transaxle incorporates an eight-speed automatic transmission and a mechanical limited-slip differential.

LFA Concept: electric, but not a confirmed production successor
Lexus introduced the LFA Concept as a battery-electric sports-car concept developed alongside the GR GT and GR GT3. It had previously been shown as the Lexus Sport Concept at Monterey Car Week 2025 and the Japan Mobility Show 2025 before being announced under the LFA Concept name.
Lexus lists the concept’s dimensions as 4,690 mm long, 2,040 mm wide and 1,195 mm high, with a 2,725 mm wheelbase and seating for two. The cited announcement does not provide a production date, range or power output. Those omissions mean the concept’s published dimensions should not be treated as a complete specification for a future production car.

So, is the Lexus LFR real?
The careful answer is that the 2024 test-car sighting is documented, while the “LFR” name and a direct LFA-successor role remain unconfirmed in the official Toyota and Lexus announcements covered here. The later-announced GR GT is a Toyota Gazoo Racing hybrid road car; the LFA Concept is a separate Lexus battery-electric concept. Neither announcement retroactively proves what the camouflaged 2024 car was.
