That is a lineup change—not proof Lexus discontinued the hybrid everywhere, or that it was objectively the “worst” LC. Lexus has not explained the omission in the cited materials.
What changed in the 2026 U.S. lineup?
The LC 500h appears in Lexus USA’s 2025 LC materials, but it is absent from the company’s listed 2026 U.S. LC models. The V8-powered LC 500 coupe and LC 500 Convertible remain in those 2026 materials. The change is therefore specific to the hybrid variant in the U.S. lineup, not the end of the LC nameplate. Lexus USA’s newsroom archive lists LC materials across model years, while its 2026 LC lineup information covers the V8 models.
For the announced 2026 LC 500, Lexus stated a starting MSRP of $101,800, including delivery, processing, and handling. That is a model-year announcement figure, not a current transaction price or evidence of remaining inventory. Lexus also announced a North American Inspiration Series limited to 200 units. Lexus’s 2026 LC 500 announcement provides those details.
Why did Lexus drop the LC 500h?
The cited Lexus materials do not state why the LC 500h is missing from the 2026 U.S. lineup. They also do not provide comparative sales totals for the LC 500 and LC 500h. So it would be speculation to say the hybrid was dropped because it sold poorly, or to call it the worst-selling LC.

How different were the LC 500 and LC 500h?
They were not simply two versions of the same engine. The 2025 LC 500 paired a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The LC 500h used a 3.5-liter V6, two electric motors, and Lexus Multistage Hybrid Drive. Lexus described the latter as “the first-ever Lexus Multistage Hybrid.” Lexus’s 2025 announcement describes the powertrains and the company’s characterization of the system.

Those figures describe different powertrains; they do not by themselves settle which car is better to drive. Lexus rated the 2025 LC 500 at a manufacturer-estimated 24 mpg highway. That is a manufacturer estimate, not an independent or real-world fuel-economy test. Lexus’s 2025 release gives the V8 output and estimate; the 2025 LC brochure lists the hybrid’s net combined horsepower.

Does this mean the LC 500h is gone everywhere?
No global conclusion follows from a U.S. model-year listing. Lexus Canada’s 2026 announcements also cover LC 500 coupe and convertible editions, while Lexus Japan’s LC page shows the LC 500h, LC 500, and LC 500 Convertible alongside a sales-ended notice. “Worst” is a matter of what a driver values, and the available specifications do not establish an objective winner. The LC 500’s naturally aspirated V8 and higher published output will matter to shoppers prioritizing that engine’s character and performance. The LC 500h offered a different V6-and-electric-motor configuration. The cited figures cannot establish real-world economy, ownership costs, reliability, or overall driving enjoyment.
