MotorTrend TV was not a free broadcast network. Some viewers may have received it at no additional cost through an existing cable, satellite or live-TV streaming package, but that is different from the channel being free for everyone. Current MotorTrend product names and app access should be verified separately from the 2024 guide.
Why the official WEC app was not the U.S. solution
The official FIA WEC/24H Le Mans app offered race passes, onboard cameras, commentary, timing and replays in eligible territories. France
France had the most significant free-to-air option. La Chaîne L’Équipe carried the race live without a pay-TV subscription, but its published schedule did not cover every hour continuously:

That left an overnight gap from 1:30 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. French viewers wanting uninterrupted coverage could use Eurosport as the paid alternative. The official FIA WEC guide and L’Équipe’s schedule are the basis for those times.
So the accurate description is free-to-air live coverage with an overnight interruption, not a free, uninterrupted full-race stream.
Brazil
The official 2024 guide listed Bandplay on YouTube as carrying the full race live in Brazil, alongside other Brazilian broadcasters. This was a market-specific rights arrangement, not a promise that the stream would be available worldwide. Viewers should confirm that the broadcaster still serves their location and that the event listing is available before relying on it.
United Kingdom and much of Europe

Autosport also reported a paid WEC TV race package for some European viewers. Its price and availability were territory-specific and should not be generalized to the United States. Other territories
Broadcast rights outside the U.S., France, Brazil and the European markets above were also assigned by territory. Free alternatives if you do not need video
Official live timing
The official Le Mans app and live-timing system provided lap times, positions, standings and race data. This is the best free companion for following the competition when video rights are unavailable, but it is not a substitute for the broadcast.
Use the organizer’s race-following guide for the official timing and event information. Timing is particularly useful for checking whether a car is running, stopped, in the pits or recovering from a time penalty.
Audio, highlights and onboard video
Audio commentary, short highlights, social clips and individual onboard-camera feeds can all be useful, but they are not equivalent to a full race broadcast. Availability can vary by territory and platform. A free onboard feed may show one car rather than the whole field; a highlights package may omit most of the 24-hour strategy; and audio may not include synchronized video.
The official full replay is therefore the only option in this guide that combines free access with the complete race presentation. For a live event, always check whether a listing says full race, highlights, onboard, audio or live timing before assuming it meets your needs.

Geo-blocking and common streaming problems
“The official app says the race is unavailable in my country”
For the 2024 Le Mans race, that message was expected in the United States and Canada. The official app’s Le Mans coverage was blocked there because of the Max and MotorTrend regional agreements.
