The Lamborghini Temerario looks spectacular on paper: a twin-turbo V8, three electric motors and a claimed 920 CV. In Top Gear’s first drive, it impressed with high-rev response and reassuring agility on a dry track. But the reviewer preferred the outgoing Huracán’s V10 soundtrack, and the car had not yet been tested on public roads. The early verdict: a compelling new Lamborghini, not a proven “best ever.”
What is the Lamborghini Temerario?
Lamborghini describes the Temerario as its first super sports car powered by a twin-turbo V8 and three electric motors. The current manufacturer model page lists a 4.0-liter (3,995.2 cm³) engine and combined output of 920 CV (677 kW). Lamborghini also claims a top speed of 343 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds. These are manufacturer figures, not results from an independent instrumented test. Lamborghini’s Temerario model page displays them as current specifications.
The same page shows 16 MPG (EPA) for gasoline-only combined fuel economy and 24 MPGe for combined electricity and gasoline. Those are US-market figures, and Lamborghini cautions that displayed consumption values depend on geolocation; they should not be treated as universal figures for every market.
What did the first drive find?
Top Gear’s Jason Barlow drove a late-stage development car on a track for a first-drive review published on 1 April 2025. Lamborghini technical chief Rouven Mohr described that car as about 95% finished. Barlow praised the V8’s response and its willingness to rev, and found the car agile and confidence-inspiring on a dry circuit. He credited the front electric motors’ torque vectoring with helping the car resist understeer. These are impressions from a track shakedown, not a full road test. Top Gear’s first drive explicitly left road impressions for another time.

Does the V8 match the Huracán’s V10?
In performance character, Barlow found plenty to like: the V8 responds eagerly and builds toward high revs. In sound, he was less convinced. He said it sounded good but did not satisfy him as much as the Huracán’s V10. That is one reviewer’s subjective judgment, not a measured comparison, but it points to a real change in the emotional character buyers may care about: electrification and turbocharging bring a different experience from the naturally aspirated V10.
Top Gear’s later driving page likewise suggests the sound at lower revs may not deliver the emotional response some supercar drivers expect. It describes progressive power delivery and says an electric motor fills torque before the turbos build boost. The page reports that its reviewer found low-speed manners relatively easy to manage, but also says the car had not been driven on the road. The two Top Gear pieces therefore do not amount to independent evidence of a completed production-car road test. Top Gear’s driving impressions are useful context, not a substitute for that missing evaluation.

Is the hybrid system too complicated?
The Temerario offers four driving modes—Città, Strada, Sport and Corsa—which pair with energy modes in up to thirteen combinations, according to Top Gear. That sounds like a lot of choice, but the later driving page says the controls proved less complicated in use than the powertrain specification suggests. Its account of electric torque fill also helps explain how the system can make power delivery feel progressive rather than simply adding another layer for the driver to manage.
The track drive found a practical purpose for the front motors: torque vectoring that helped the car turn and resist understeer. The available impressions do not establish how the modes compare in a controlled test or whether the system feels equally intuitive in everyday road use.

Is it more usable than the Huracán?
Top Gear’s first-drive article reports 34 mm more headroom and 46 mm more legroom than in the Huracán, along with easier entry and exit and a front trunk. Those are journalist-reported comparisons, not independent measurements in the evidence available here. They suggest Lamborghini has addressed some day-to-day compromises, but a track outing cannot settle how comfortable or practical the Temerario is over ordinary journeys.
How does it compare with other hybrid supercars?
Top Gear identifies the Ferrari 296 GTB and McLaren Artura as relevant hybrid competitors. The available coverage does not provide a direct comparison test, so it cannot establish that the Temerario is quicker, more agile or more satisfying than either. Nor is there an independent comparative lap time or instrumented acceleration result here to rank it against the Huracán or its rivals.

Is the Temerario the best Lamborghini ever?
That verdict is premature. The early track drive makes a strong case that the Temerario can feel agile and approachable while delivering the high-rev performance expected of a Lamborghini. Its hybrid hardware appears to have a functional role, not merely a headline-making one. But the first-drive reviewer preferred the V10’s sound, and neither cited Top Gear piece supplies a production-car road test.
For now, the Temerario is best described as a promising new direction: a technically ambitious successor that seems to preserve drama in its performance and track behavior, while changing the engine note and adding complexity. Whether that trade is worth it will depend on how the production car feels beyond the circuit and how much a buyer values the V10’s character.
