What happened near Mount Henry Bridge?
PerthNow reported that the fire was first reported at 12:39 pm on 6 February 2025 near Mount Henry Bridge in Mount Pleasant. DFES closed the left lane as emergency services worked to extinguish it. The report describes smoke and heavy congestion, and says Main Roads WA warned that traffic was backed up to Leach Highway. These are details of the reported incident, not current road conditions. PerthNow’s report said the fire was extinguished at about 1:45 pm.
Where was the fire?
The incident was reported near Mount Henry Bridge, not necessarily on the bridge itself. The bridge crosses the Canning River and connects the Kwinana Freeway with Perth’s southern corridor. What should drivers do if they encounter a bushfire?
DFES warns that bushfires can affect roads and highways through smoke-reduced visibility and closures. Its guidance is: “If you see signs of a bushfire in the distance, like smoke or flames, carefully pull over to the side of the road to assess the situation and call triple zero.
