KTM’s 2025 1390 SUPER ADVENTURE S EVO is the motorcycle behind the headline. It uses Bosch radar-based Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), which can increase wheel-brake pressure when the system detects collision risk and the rider is not braking hard enough. That is braking assistance—not evidence that the bike will autonomously brake in every emergency.
Which KTM gets emergency braking?
The feature is on the 2025 KTM 1390 SUPER ADVENTURE S EVO. KTM says the fifth-generation Bosch front radar is standard on the S EVO and mounted below the headlight. Bosch announced in September 2024 that its new front-radar functions would be used first on a KTM and enter production in 2025.
The model-year label needs a market qualification: KTM’s launch release said authorized-dealer availability was expected in early 2025, while North American availability would be model year 2026. A 2025 designation therefore does not mean the motorcycle was scheduled to reach every market in calendar year 2025.
How Emergency Brake Assist works
Bosch describes EBA as activating when it detects collision risk and the rider does not brake hard enough. It then actively increases wheel-brake pressure to reduce speed. The system’s described role is to supplement rider braking; the available feature description does not establish that it applies the brakes without rider input in every emergency.

KTM calls its corresponding feature “Braking Assistance.” That name sits alongside separate Collision Warning and Distance Warning functions. A warning alerts the rider; EBA/Braking Assistance changes brake pressure. They should not be treated as one function.
How it fits with the radar and AMT package
The front radar supports several distinct functions. KTM lists Distance Assist, Braking Assistance, Collision Warning, Distance Warning, and automatic start and stop with its Automated Manual Transmission (AMT). Bosch describes additional function distinctions that help explain the package:

- Emergency Brake Assist (EBA): increases wheel-brake pressure if a collision risk is detected and rider braking is insufficient.
- Riding Distance Assist (RDA): can reduce acceleration or apply the brakes to maintain a rider-set distance, while the rider continues to control the throttle.
- ACC Stop & Go: adaptive cruise control can bring the motorcycle to a controlled stop behind a stopped vehicle and resume when it moves, according to KTM. Bosch says this function works best with an automatic transmission, such as the S EVO’s AMT.
- Warnings: Collision Warning and Distance Warning alert the rider; they are not the same as braking or distance-control functions.
KTM says its AMT can be shifted manually without a clutch or used in fully automatic mode. The source descriptions do not establish that every radar function behaves identically in every riding or transmission mode.
What the safety claim does—and does not—mean
Bosch Accident Research estimated in 2024 that assistance functions could prevent up to one in six motorcycle accidents on German roads. That is a broad estimate for assistance functions, not a measured result for EBA alone or for the 1390 SUPER ADVENTURE S EVO. It is not a model-specific test result or a guarantee of accident prevention. Bosch also cited an estimate that earlier systems could prevent one in seven accidents on German roads; that figure likewise should not be read as a result for this KTM.

Brake hardware and evidence limits
KTM’s 2025 product page lists a new Brembo front master cylinder for the 1390 SUPER ADVENTURE range and upgraded brake pads for the S EVO. Those are hardware changes, not independent evidence of shorter stopping distances or better EBA performance. The official material cited here provides no model-specific stopping-distance measurement, independent EBA test, reliability study, price, or current dealer inventory.
