What was seen on the possible KTM 990 Adventure
ZigWheels identifies the test motorcycle as a possible 990 Adventure based on spy imagery. The report describes twin fuel tanks mounted on either side, substantial fairing, a large adjustable windscreen, a single LED projector headlight with DRLs on both sides, an upswept exhaust and a large TFT instrument console. These are details attributed to the reported test mule, not KTM production specifications. ZigWheels’ October 5 report contrasts the twin-tank layout with a single-tank KTM 790 Adventure mule covered earlier, but that comparison is the publication’s identification clue—not confirmation of the prototype’s name.
Does it have the same TFT as the KTM 1390 Adventure?
The test report describes a display that looks similar to the large console on the 1390, but it does not establish that the 990 prototype uses the same component. KTM specifies a portrait-mounted, touchscreen 8-inch TFT on the 2026 KTM 1390 Super Adventure R, with anti-glare, anti-fingerprint and anti-reflex treatment. That specification applies to the 1390, not the unconfirmed 990.
KTM North America’s January 8, 2026 press page includes 1390 Super Adventure R images and a dashboard detail for visual comparison. Neither that material nor the 1390’s published display specification confirms the test mule’s equipment or compatibility with 1390 accessories.

What engine could the 990 Adventure use?
ZigWheels reports that the prototype is expected to use the 947cc engine from the KTM 990 Duke. KTM has not confirmed that engine for an Adventure model, so treat 947cc as a reported expectation rather than a production specification. The sources available for this report do not establish the possible 990 Adventure’s power, performance, transmission or other engine details.
When could KTM launch it?
The report says the motorcycle could make its global debut at EICMA 2026, but no debut date is confirmed. KTM’s production update on its new-generation street and adventure lineup does not list a 990 Adventure. It therefore does not confirm this model’s production schedule or launch.
