Mitsubishi lists a 75-kWh battery and maximum range claims of 282 miles in the U.S. and 454 km in Canada. U.S. MSRP starts at $37,745 before destination; Canadian MSRP starts at C$48,998 before freight and PDI.
Is the Mitsubishi Eclipse Sportback just a Nissan LEAF?
It is closely related, but “just a Nissan LEAF” overstates what the official announcements establish. Mitsubishi says Nissan supplies the battery-electric vehicle on an original-equipment-manufacturer (OEM) basis for Mitsubishi’s U.S. and Canadian sales companies. Mitsubishi Canada describes it as based on the next-generation Nissan LEAF. The announcements do not establish that every component, platform, drivetrain, or interior is identical.
Mitsubishi gives the vehicle its own exterior identity, citing changes to the front and rear bumpers, grille, headlights, rear combination lamps, rear gate, D-pillars, and wheels. Its Canadian announcement also highlights distinct fascias and Triple Diamond branding. These details support calling it a Mitsubishi-branded Nissan-supplied EV, not assuming it is mechanically identical to a LEAF in every respect. Mitsubishi Motors Corporation’s June 10, 2026 announcement and Mitsubishi Canada’s launch announcement describe the relationship and exterior changes.
When does the Eclipse Sportback EV come out?
The latest market announcements put U.S. sales in October 2026 and the Canadian launch in November 2026. Mitsubishi’s earlier global announcement gave a broader second-half-of-2026 window; the later U.S. and Canadian releases specify the timing for those markets. Mitsubishi Motors North America’s October 6, 2026 release gives the U.S. timing, while Mitsubishi Canada’s October 6 release gives the Canadian timing. These are announced dates, not confirmation that every dealer will have inventory on a particular day.

What range does the Eclipse Sportback EV have?
Mitsubishi announces a 75-kWh lithium-ion battery and maximum range of up to 282 miles for the U.S. model, and up to 454 km for the Canadian model. These are manufacturer claims in the respective market announcements, not independent road-test results or a guarantee of the distance a driver will achieve. The announcements do not provide an independent real-world range figure.
Range depends on conditions and use, and the available official materials do not give a common test-cycle figure that would support a direct comparison with a LEAF or another EV. For the market-specific claims, see Mitsubishi’s U.S. release and Mitsubishi’s Canadian release.

Does the Eclipse Sportback use NACS or J1772?
Mitsubishi says all trims have J1772 charging for Level 1 and Level 2 and NACS for Level 3 fast charging. Mitsubishi Canada says NACS compatibility provides access to the Supercharger network. A compatible charging site, connector availability, and access requirements still matter for a particular trip.
For the Canadian vehicle, Mitsubishi states a maximum charging capability of up to 150 kW and estimates approximately 35 minutes for a Level 3 charge from 10% to 80%. That is a manufacturer estimate, not a promise of a fixed stop time: the company says charge time and capacity can vary with power source, ambient and battery temperatures, battery condition and age, and vehicle accessory use. The charging details are in Mitsubishi Canada’s vehicle announcement and its July 28, 2026 charging announcement.

What can buyers compare before choosing one?
The closest useful comparison is the next-generation Nissan LEAF, which Mitsubishi identifies as the Eclipse Sportback’s basis, alongside other EVs in the buyer’s local price range. The official announcements do not provide enough detail for a complete Eclipse-versus-LEAF specification comparison. Before deciding, compare the items that affect ownership directly:
Quick Recap
