The Koenigsegg One:1 was built around a striking target: one horsepower for every kilogram of curb weight, alongside one megawatt of engine power. Koenigsegg describes it as the first homologated production car to achieve the 1:1 ratio and the first production megacar. The company made seven examples between 2014 and 2015; its headline 273-mph top-speed figure, however, was a theoretical estimate—not a verified run.
What does “One:1” mean?
The name refers to Koenigsegg’s “dream” power-to-weight ratio: one horsepower per kilogram of curb weight. The manufacturer says the car was the first homologated production car to reach that ratio, and calls it the first production megacar because its engine produces one megawatt. Those “first” descriptions are Koenigsegg’s claims, rather than independent rankings.
The ratio is a shorthand, not a statement that the engine makes exactly 1,360 horsepower. Koenigsegg’s specification sheet gives power in megawatts and weight in kilograms. Converting one megawatt to mechanical horsepower yields roughly 1,341 hp; converting it to metric horsepower (PS) yields about 1,360 PS. That distinction explains why the One:1 is commonly described as having about 1,360 horsepower while its stated curb weight is 1,360 kg. The ratio depends on using the metric-horsepower convention.
How much power and torque does it have?
Koenigsegg specifies a 5.0-liter aluminum V8 with flex-fuel capability and variable-geometry twin turbochargers. Its technical sheet lists 1 MW at 7,500 rpm, maximum torque of 1,371 Nm at 6,000 rpm, and an 8,250-rpm limiter. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent dynamometer measurements. Koenigsegg’s technical specification provides the full figures.

How many One:1 cars were made?
Koenigsegg’s current model page says seven examples were made and that production ran from 2014 to 2015. A March 2014 Top Gear report quotes company spokesman Andreas Petre describing six customer cars, or seven in total when the company’s research-and-development car is included. The counts differ because one excludes the development car and the other includes it.
What did the One:1’s weight and performance figures represent?
The technical sheet lists a 1,360 kg curb weight, defined as ready to drive with 50% fuel and all fluids. Koenigsegg also gives approximate acceleration from 0 to 400 km/h in 20 seconds and braking from 400 to 0 km/h in 10 seconds. These are the company’s stated figures; they should not be read as results from an independent test.

- Real rubber tires.
- Detailed interior, exterior.
- Made of diecast metal with some plastic parts.
- Manufacturer's original unopened packaging.
The distinction matters when comparing headline numbers: the ratio combines manufacturer-reported power and curb weight, while acceleration and braking figures describe performance claims with no independent measurement method specified on the cited sheet.
Did the Koenigsegg One:1 really reach 273 mph?
The widely repeated 273-mph figure was not a verified top-speed run. In a March 5, 2014 interview with Top Gear, Petre described it as the car’s “theoretical” top speed and said Koenigsegg had not set out to make the One:1 a top-speed car. He added that the company would like to attempt a run, but it was not a priority.

Koenigsegg’s technical sheet lists Michelin Cup 2 tires with a 440 km/h speed rating. That is a specification for the tires, not evidence that the car completed a run at that speed. A component rating and a verified vehicle top speed are different claims.
How was the One:1 designed for track performance?
Koenigsegg paired the high-output engine with active aerodynamic and suspension systems intended to adapt the car to driving conditions. Its technical sheet lists 610 kg of downforce at 260 km/h and 830 kg at 440 km/h. These are maker-published figures, not independently measured results.
