But that wording overstates what the available comparison establishes: Top Gear reports that extra chassis bracing makes the EVO38 three times stiffer, yet its coverage does not name the baseline vehicle or explain how stiffness was measured. It does not establish a direct stiffness comparison with a Lamborghini.
What does the three-times-stiffer claim refer to?
Top Gear’s 2026 EVO38 review says that extra bracing makes its chassis “three times stiffer.” A second Top Gear feature repeats the claim. Neither article gives a stiffness value, test method, measurement direction, or comparison baseline, and the sentence is not attributed to a named engineer or quoted speaker. It is therefore best treated as a reported chassis claim, not a published independent test result.
The Lamborghini reference comes from a separate Top Gear story: the earlier EVO37 featured in the outlet’s 2025 Performance Car of the Year test, where it beat several cars, including the Lamborghini Revuelto. That performance result does not establish that the EVO38 chassis is three times stiffer than a Lamborghini. Top Gear’s EVO38 review and its EVO38 feature do not publish a controlled Lamborghini rigidity comparison.
What is the Kimera EVO38?
The EVO38 is made by Kimera Automobili, a boutique supercar and restomod maker based in Cuneo, Italy. Top Gear describes it as a more powerful, substantially modified development of the EVO37. The EVO37 pays tribute to Lancia’s 037 Group B rally car; Top Gear says its chassis also incorporates a small amount of Lancia Beta Montecarlo. The EVO38 extends that rally-inspired idea with four-wheel drive, recalling a four-wheel-drive 037 development that was abandoned in favour of the Delta Integrale.

What has changed from the EVO37?
| Area | EVO38 details reported by Top Gear |
|---|---|
| Engine and output | 2.1-litre four-cylinder with both a supercharger and a larger turbocharger than the EVO37; selectable maps of 400, 500 or 600 bhp. |
| Weight | About 1,100 kg. Top Gear attributes the reduction versus the EVO37 to greater use of carbon and titanium components. |
| Drivetrain | Four-wheel drive, with selectable 50/50 or 25/75 front/rear torque distribution and a fully rear-wheel-drive mode. Top Gear says the setting can be changed while moving. |
| Suspension and lift | In-board push-rod suspension at both ends, with hydraulic lifting in the dampers to raise all four corners by 50 mm. |
| Transmission and cabin | Six-speed manual with shorter ratios, physical analogue controls and dials, and a hydraulic handbrake that Top Gear says declutches the engine. The outlet also reports a 48V air-conditioning system. |
These are details reported in Top Gear’s review and feature, rather than independently verified specifications. The outlet’s account of its drive is also an impression, not instrumented comparative data: its reviewer drove on an icy mountain pass and ice track, including on studded tyres, and described the four-wheel-drive car as having more grip while still being able to rotate and powerslide.
How many EVO38s will be made, and what do they cost?
Top Gear reports a planned run of 38 cars and says they are sold out. The outlet gives a price of €880,000 plus local taxes, or £918,000 including UK VAT. It mentions possible Martini-edition allocations but does not confirm them. These availability and price details are as reported by Top Gear in 2026; they do not establish that a car is currently available to order.

What the headline can—and cannot—tell you
- What it can tell you: Top Gear reports a three-times-stiffer chassis claim associated with added bracing, alongside major changes to the EVO38’s powertrain and drivetrain.
- What it cannot tell you: The published coverage does not provide the measurement method, baseline chassis, or a direct comparison with a Lamborghini. It also does not report instrumented rigidity figures or a controlled Lamborghini test.
For the EVO38, “three times stiffer” is a striking reported engineering claim, but without the missing baseline and test details it cannot be read as a quantified Lamborghini-versus-Kimera result.
