Kia Sorento U.S. sales rose 37% year over year in September 2026, but the increase across the first nine months was a more measured 4.3%. Kia’s newly announced 2027 gasoline Sorento starts at a $32,590 LX MSRP before destination. The price announcement does not show that the increase—or the new pricing—will make the SUV more popular.
Did Kia Sorento sales go up?
Yes. Kia America reported 8,939 Sorento sales in the United States in September 2026, compared with 6,502 in September 2025, a 37% year-over-year increase. For January through September, the company reported 77,205 Sorentos sold in 2026 versus 74,012 in the same period of 2025, up about 4.3%.

The contrast matters: September was a strong month, while the year-to-date gain was considerably smaller. Kia also reported 77,009 total U.S. vehicle sales in September, up 18% year over year, and called it a September record; that figure covers the Kia brand, not just the Sorento. The company’s release also said Sorento hybrid sales rose 112% year over year in September, but did not provide an absolute hybrid unit count. Kia America’s September 2026 sales release is the source for these company-reported figures.

Kia America announced U.S. pricing for the 2027 gasoline (ICE) Sorento on October 1, 2026. The prices below are manufacturer’s suggested retail prices before the $1,495 destination charge; taxes, title, registration, options, and dealer charges are also excluded.

Kia says dealer-set actual prices may vary, so MSRP is not an out-the-door quote. A local total depends on the dealer, vehicle and options, and applicable taxes and fees. Kia’s 2027 Sorento pricing announcement lists the MSRPs and destination charge.
What changed for 2027, and which prices are still unknown?
Kia described the 2027 gasoline Sorento changes as minimal and said the LX price rises by $200. Jade Black Green replaces Jungle Green as the highlighted model-year change. Kelley Blue Book likewise reported a $200 increase across trims and said the model years are otherwise essentially identical. These gasoline-Sorento prices should not be applied to the hybrid (HEV) or plug-in hybrid (PHEV): as of October 1, 2026, 2027 HEV and PHEV prices had not been released, according to Kelley Blue Book’s October 1 report.

Kia says the gasoline Sorento models are assembled in the United States using U.S. and globally sourced parts. That statement in the pricing release does not extend to the HEV or PHEV.
Does the new price mean the Sorento will become more popular?
That remains unproven. September’s sales increase and Kia’s 2027 pricing announcement establish what sales did and what the gasoline models will cost; they do not show that the $200 LX increase, or pricing overall, will cause demand to rise. The available figures are Kia-reported sales, not an independent study of why buyers chose the Sorento or a forecast of future sales.
