What does the Arctic Circle spy video show?
CarSpyMedia published the video on February 14, 2025, describing its subject as a 2026 Seltos Hybrid prototype in a winter test near the Arctic Circle. That is the publisher’s identification and location claim. Kia’s official hybrid announcements establish that a Seltos hybrid was planned, but do not confirm the identity of this specific vehicle or where the footage was shot. The available information also does not establish the test temperature or provide independent test data.

When is the Seltos Hybrid arriving?
Kia announced a new 1.6-liter Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) variant on May 19, 2025. The company said global production began in December 2025 and sales across key markets would take place throughout 2026. That describes a global rollout, not a single universal launch date or a guarantee of availability in every country.

Is the 2026 Kia Seltos Hybrid coming to the U.S.?
Kia’s U.S. model-year 2026 specification page lists gasoline engines only; it does not list a hybrid. Kia America later identified the all-new North American Seltos as a 2027 model and said its lineup includes a hybrid powertrain. These announcements distinguish the U.S. 2026 lineup from the North American 2027 model. They do not establish that a hybrid is part of the U.S. 2026 model-year range.
The U.S. 2026 gasoline specifications are:
- LX, S, and EX: 2.0-liter MPI Atkinson-cycle gasoline engine, listed at 147 hp and 132 lb-ft.
- SX: 1.6-liter turbo GDI gasoline engine, listed at 190 hp and 195 lb-ft.

What has Kia announced for Germany?
Kia Germany’s August 27, 2026 release gives specific figures for German-market hybrid versions and says deliveries start in October 2026. The consumption and CO₂ figures below are the company’s stated combined values; they are not independent road-test results.

Why “2026 Seltos Hybrid” needs a market qualifier
“2026” refers to different things across these announcements. Kia described the hybrid as part of a global rollout across key markets during calendar year 2026; Kia Germany announced German deliveries beginning in October 2026; and Kia America calls the all-new North American model a 2027 Seltos. Meanwhile, Kia’s U.S. 2026 specification page lists gasoline powertrains without a hybrid. Use the country and model-year context when interpreting the name or checking availability.
