Lexus has revealed the Lexus LFA Concept, a battery-electric sports-car concept—not a confirmed production successor to the original LFA. Lexus has not announced a production version, specifications, price, or launch date in the official materials available as of October 7, 2026. The concept has, however, moved beyond a static display: Lexus reported its first dynamic drives at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July 2026.
Is Lexus making a new electric LFA?
Lexus has confirmed the LFA Concept, a battery electric vehicle (BEV) sports-car concept. That is the official name and status; Lexus’s announcements do not confirm that it will become a customer production car. The car was first shown as the Lexus Sport Concept at Monterey Car Week and Japan Mobility Show in 2025, then revealed under the LFA Concept name in December 2025. Lexus’s December 2025 announcement describes the concept and its development goals.
The latest official development milestone in the materials available as of October 7, 2026, is its first reported dynamic drives at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, held July 9–12, 2026. The camouflaged concept appeared alongside the GR GT and GR GT3 prototypes. Driving the concept publicly is evidence of development activity, not confirmation of production. Lexus Canada’s July 20, 2026 announcement reports the Goodwood appearance.
What is confirmed about the LFA Concept?
Electric concept, with no published powertrain specifications
Lexus identifies the LFA Concept as a BEV sports car. Its cited announcements do not state motor output, battery capacity, driving range, acceleration, or top speed. Those figures should not be inferred from the original V10-powered LFA or from Toyota’s separate GR GT project.

Design and engineering priorities
Lexus says the concept is being developed alongside Toyota Gazoo Racing’s GR GT and GR GT3, sharing development techniques and aspirations while exploring what is possible specifically with a BEV sports car. Lexus highlights a light, high-rigidity all-aluminum body frame, an ideal driving position, and a cockpit designed to foster car-driver unity. It says the steering and switch layout is intended for intuitive operation, including blind-touch use. The shared development context does not establish that the cars share a powertrain or production plan.
Why Lexus is using the LFA name
Lexus says the LFA name is not reserved for internal-combustion cars. Its stated rationale is that LFA represents a model embodying technologies that engineers of an era should preserve and pass on. That is Lexus’s explanation for the name, not a production commitment.

How the LFA Concept differs from the GR GT and GR GT3
Toyota and Lexus presented the three projects together, but they have distinct stated roles. Toyota calls the GR GT a GR-brand flagship sports car and describes the GR GT3 as a GR GT-based FIA GT3-spec race car intended for customer racing. Lexus describes the LFA Concept as a BEV sports-car concept. Toyota says all three projects emphasize a low center of gravity, low weight with high rigidity, and aerodynamic performance. Shared priorities and development techniques do not mean identical vehicles or plans. Toyota’s announcement of the three projects explains their respective roles.
| Project | Stated role | Powertrain or status disclosed |
|---|---|---|
| Lexus LFA Concept | BEV sports-car concept | Battery electric; production status unconfirmed |
| Toyota GR GT | GR-brand flagship sports car | Not stated in the cited project announcement |
| Toyota GR GT3 | GR GT-based FIA GT3-spec race car for customer racing | Race-car role stated; no powertrain specification in the cited project announcement |
What remains unknown
As of October 7, 2026, the cited official announcements do not establish whether or when Lexus will build a production version, what its final name would be, or where it might be sold. They also do not publish a price, ordering process, performance figures, battery capacity, range, or production volume. Until Lexus or Toyota announces those details, claims about them are speculation rather than confirmed LFA successor specifications.
