Kia has announced plans for the EV5 to reach the U.S., but its public timeline is not proof that the SUV is currently on sale. Kia’s 2024 plan listed the EV5 for major markets including the U.S. by 2026; in July 2025, it said North American sales would follow the global rollout in early 2026. The company’s cited materials do not establish current U.S. inventory, final U.S. specifications, pricing, or order availability.
Is the Kia EV5 coming to the U.S.?
Kia’s announcements support a U.S. market plan, rather than a confirmed U.S. retail launch. In its 2024 CEO Investor Day plan, Kia listed the EV5 among electric vehicles planned for major markets including the U.S. by 2026. On July 8, 2025, Kia announced the EV5’s global launch and said sales in North America would follow the initial rollout. Kia President and CEO Ho Sung Song said the launch would reinforce Kia’s presence in markets including “Korea, Europe and North America.” The announcement is evidence of a planned regional sequence, not confirmation of a U.S.-specific on-sale date. When will the Kia EV5 be available in America?
Kia said the rollout would begin in Korea and Europe in the second half of 2025, with North American sales to follow in early 2026. “North America” is broader than the U.S., and the announcement gives a planned sequence rather than a verified U.S. retail date. The available company materials do not confirm whether U.S. sales have since begun, or provide a current U.S. order page or dealer inventory status.

What is the Kia EV5?
Kia describes the EV5 as a fully electric, mid-sized C-SUV built on Hyundai Motor Group’s E-GMP architecture. The company positions it as a family-oriented vehicle for everyday use and active lifestyles. Its 2025 global announcement lists an overall length of 4,610 mm and a wheelbase of 2,750 mm; those are manufacturer-published global dimensions, not a substitute for a U.S. specification sheet. Kia’s global product materials promote a flexible cabin, rear seats that fold flat, vehicle-to-load (V2L) power, and an AddGear mounting system for items such as storage units and hooks. These features suggest the kind of family and outdoor use Kia has in mind; the materials are manufacturer descriptions and do not confirm that every feature will be offered on a U.S.-market vehicle. Are global Kia EV5 specifications the same as the U.S. version?
Not necessarily. Kia explicitly says EV5 specifications can vary by region and country, and its announcements describe different market configurations. Global figures should not be treated as final U.S. figures unless Kia publishes them for the U.S. market.
For example, Kia’s 2025 global announcement lists 60.3 kWh and 81.4 kWh NCM battery options, up to 530 km of WLTP-estimated range, and a claimed 10–80% DC fast-charge time of 30 minutes. These are Kia’s global launch figures, not U.S. EPA range ratings or a confirmed American battery and charging specification. The announcement also gives different towing measures by region: up to 1,200 kg in Korea and Europe and 1,800 lb in North America. Kia’s global product page currently describes up to 530 km WLTP range with an 81.4 kWh battery and 10–80% charging in under 30 minutes. How much will the Kia EV5 cost in the U.S.?
The cited Kia materials do not state a U.S. price, trim lineup, EPA range, or order availability. Without those details, a U.S. buyer cannot make a grounded price or range comparison with electric SUVs already on sale. Wait for U.S.-specific information rather than applying prices or specifications from another market.

What should U.S. buyers verify before deciding?
When Kia publishes U.S.-market details, compare the EV5 against alternatives using figures for the same market and model year. In particular, check:
- U.S. starting prices by trim, and whether quoted prices include destination charges or incentives.
- EPA-estimated range for each U.S. configuration, rather than a WLTP figure from another market.
- Battery, drivetrain, charging connector, and charging performance for the U.S. version.
- U.S. delivery timing, order status, and dealer availability.
- Cabin and cargo space, warranty terms, and whether features such as V2L and AddGear are included on the trim being considered.
Kia’s global materials offer useful context about the EV5’s layout and intended utility, but they do not provide a like-for-like U.S. comparison. A value judgment should wait for comparable U.S. prices and specifications.
