Kia’s UK pages confirm the EV2 is a five-seat electric compact SUV, but the claim that it drew “significant and immediate demand” and recorded 3,386 UK registrations is not corroborated by the available model-specific sources. A Department for Transport figure of 147,000 first-time zero-emission car registrations in 2026 Q2 covers the whole UK market, not the EV2.
Are 3,386 Kia EV2 UK registrations confirmed?
No model-specific source identified for this article verifies 3,386 UK registrations or substantiates the phrase “significant and immediate demand.” Without an attributable source and a stated reporting period, the figure should not be treated as an established registration total.
The Department for Transport’s April to June 2026 vehicle licensing statistics report 147,000 zero-emission cars registered for the first time in the UK during that quarter, up 40.5% year on year. That is a market-wide statistic; it does not confirm how many EV2s were registered.
What the UK registration figures measure
The Department for Transport publishes vehicle statistics using different data sources: early provisional estimates combine DVLA data with monthly figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), while its quarterly licensing statistics are based on DVLA administrative data. The department’s vehicle statistics collection provides the official publications. SMMT also publishes electric vehicle registration data.

To assess a specific EV2 total, a report needs to identify the model, geography, reporting period and data source. The 3,386 claim has not been corroborated with those details here, and no named person or official statement was found backing the demand characterization.
What Kia confirms about the EV2
Kia UK describes the EV2 as a five-seat, front-wheel-drive electric compact SUV. Kia advertises up to 275 miles of range depending on battery and model; the First Edition page specifies up to 190 miles. These are manufacturer-claimed figures, not independent real-world range tests. See Kia’s EV2 model page for the model information.

- Confirm the current on-the-road price, any grant eligibility and the terms available from a Kia dealer.
- Do not rely on expired finance promotions: the offers shown on Kia’s EV2 offers page were stated to run through 30 September 2026, a date that has passed.
