Gear Patrol reported on October 1, 2026, that a pair of KEF Q1 Meta passive bookshelf speakers was on sale for $400, down $300 from a stated $700 regular price, at KEF and Amazon. That is a dated offer, not a guaranteed current price; check the live listing for price, seller, finish and stock before buying.

What the reported deal includes

The offer is for a pair of KEF Q1 Meta speakers. Gear Patrol reported the $400 price and $300 reduction on October 1, 2026. The available information does not establish that this is the model’s lowest-ever price, and discounts can change.

KEF’s product copy calls the Q1 Meta “the ultimate entry-level speaker for those looking to build their first HiFi sound system.” That is the manufacturer’s positioning, not an independent listening assessment. No comparative listening test is established here.

What kind of speaker is the Q1 Meta?

The Q1 Meta is a passive, two-way bass-reflex bookshelf speaker. “Passive” means it requires a separate amplifier; it does not function as a self-powered speaker you can connect directly to a phone or most audio sources.

  • METAMATERIAL ABSORPTION TECHNOLOGY - MAT absorbs 99% of unwanted sound from the rear of the tweeter, revealing detail conventional bookshelf speakers blur
  • UNI-Q POINT SOURCE - 12th-generation array places the 25mm aluminium dome tweeter at the centre of the 5.25in midbass cone, spreading accurate stereo sound evenly so every seat hears the same performance
  • COMPACT WITH REAL BASS - 2-way bass-reflex design reaches 47Hz (-6dB) with in-room bass to 42Hz; included port bungs tighten response for shelf or near-wall placement
  • EASY TO DRIVE - works with amplifiers and AV receivers from 10-150W; ideal as passive stereo speakers or as fronts and surrounds in a KEF Q Series home theater
  • SOLD AS A PAIR - Satin Black, Satin White or Walnut with colour-matched magnetic grilles and rubber feet; matches Q Series center channels and subwoofers for a complete system

KEF specifies a 12th-generation Uni-Q driver array with Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT), a 25 mm vented aluminium-dome tweeter and a 130 mm aluminium mid/bass cone. KEF says MAT absorbs 99% of unwanted sound from the rear of the tweeter; that is a manufacturer claim, not an independently verified test result.

Check amplifier compatibility before buying

KEF rates the Q1 Meta at 86 dB sensitivity, with 4 Ω nominal impedance and a 3.2 Ω minimum. Its recommended amplifier power is 10–150 W. These figures are KEF’s published specifications; they are not a guarantee that every amplifier in that wattage range will be suitable in every system.

Check your amplifier’s documentation for support of a low-impedance 4 Ω speaker and confirm that its output falls within KEF’s recommended range. If you are replacing powered speakers, include the cost and space for a separate amplifier in your system budget.

How much bass and space should you expect?

KEF publishes a 51 Hz–20 kHz frequency response at ±3 dB and a 47 Hz–20 kHz frequency range at −6 dB. It also lists a typical in-room bass response of 42 Hz at −6 dB. These are specification figures, not a promise of identical results in every room or placement; KEF’s product page is the source for the stated measurement conditions.

What to verify on the listing

Before checkout, confirm the current pair price, seller, stock and finish on the retailer’s live page. Also account for the separate amplifier the passive speakers require, and any optional bracket or stands if your placement depends on them. Gear Patrol’s October 1, 2026 report names KEF and Amazon as retailers for the offer; it does not guarantee that either still has the same price or inventory.
