What does “top-selling” mean in this case?
The available evidence points to two related but distinct claims. In July 2026, Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. said the company achieved “No. 1 Motorcycle market share in 2025.” The announcement does not give a percentage, explain how the share was calculated, or publish brand sales totals. Kawasaki’s press release, reproduced by Racer X, therefore supports an attributed market-share claim, not a precise statement about units sold.
Separately, a December 2025 New Atlas report citing MotorCyclesData ranked Kawasaki first in U.S. year-to-date sales through September 2025. That is a sales ranking for a partial year. It does not establish the final full-year order.

Market share and units sold are not interchangeable. Market share is a brand’s portion of a defined market, while a unit-sales ranking compares the number of vehicles sold. Without the underlying totals and definitions, the available sources cannot show Kawasaki’s percentage, its numerical lead, or whether a full-year unit-sales table would match the reported market-share ranking.

The market context was mixed. The Motorcycle Industry Council’s year-end figures, as summarized by Powersports Business, show new motorcycle and scooter sales down 7.6% in 2025 compared with 2024. Within the reported categories, sport-bike sales rose 13%, while touring motorcycle sales fell 13% and cruiser sales fell 6%.

That contrast helps explain why brand results can diverge when segments move in different directions, but the public summary does not connect those segment changes to Kawasaki’s ranking. New Atlas identifies Kawasaki’s Ninja range, including the Ninja 500 and 650, and the Vulcan S as contributing models; that is its explanation, not model-level sales evidence or proof that any one model caused the result.
