What is the Karsten Tent on Wheels?

Buyers choosing between the two should weigh tent-style exposure against the shelter and enclosed living space they expect from a caravan.

How much room does it provide?
The tent floor is listed as 3.5 × 3.5 m (350 × 350 cm). Published mattress measurements differ slightly: the Jaarbeurs release gives 210 × 165 cm, while Karsten Travelstore lists 210 × 160 × 12 cm. Treat those as source-specific specifications and check the current model details before deciding whether the bed suits two people. The reported peak height is approximately 2.25–2.3 m.

The bed is elevated by the trailer rather than laid directly on the ground. Storage remains part of the trailer’s role, although the available sources do not establish usable payload after accessories or the amount of luggage that fits alongside the bed in camping mode.
How does the tent set up?
Karsten describes an inflatable air-beam system and cotton TenCate fabric. The Jaarbeurs release reports two crossed pressure hoses at 4 bar; that is a description of the system, not an operating instruction. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for setup rather than treating that reported pressure as a user procedure.

Karsten Travelstore lists a 230 V compressor and comfort awning as standard equipment. The product is described as setting up in minutes, but the sources do not provide a timed independent setup test. Because the listed compressor uses 230 V, consider how you will access mains power at your intended campsite.
What are the packed size and towing figures?
Karsten Travelstore lists the packed trailer at 375 × 180 × 98 cm and 295 kg unladen. The Jaarbeurs release rounds the unladen weight to about 300 kg, gives a packed height of under 1 m, and reports a 750 kg axle rating. New Atlas describes the length including the drawbar as about 3.7 m. These are published product figures, not a guarantee that a particular vehicle can tow a loaded ToW.

Current accessory availability, compatibility, and pricing are not established by the cited product information, so confirm those details with Karsten or an authorized seller for the specific ToW.

The €13,995 starting price was a launch figure announced on 1 April 2026. The same release offered a temporary €1,000 discount for qualifying April orders with June delivery; New Atlas also reported the €13,995 planned retail price and €12,995 launch offer (New Atlas, 9 April 2026). The ToW is most relevant to campers who want tent-style living but prefer a raised, ready-to-use bed and integrated luggage storage. It may be a poor fit for someone who wants the enclosed shelter, facilities, or all-weather living space of a conventional caravan. Compare it against your actual trip needs, not just its compact packed height:
