No verified Nürburgring lap time has been published for the Kalmar 9X9. Kalmar’s seven-minute figure, announced in 2024, was a full-size simulation estimate—not a timed lap. The company has since described development and tire testing, and Motor Authority reported a 9X9 sighting at the Nürburgring, but those reports do not establish a completed, verified production-car lap.
Did the Kalmar 9X9 set a Nürburgring lap time?
There is no verified timed Nordschleife lap for the 9X9 in the available reports. Kalmar’s August 16, 2024 debut announcement said full-size simulations indicated a lap of seven minutes flat. That is a projected result from simulation, not a stopwatch time from a completed lap.

Motor Authority later reported that a 9X9 had been spotted testing at the Nürburgring. That supports saying the car was reported at the track; the report does not provide a verified lap time or establish that the car completed a timed attempt.
Keep three kinds of evidence separate: a simulation projection, a report that a car was seen testing, and a documented lap with timing conditions. The available sources support the first two, not the third.

What did Kalmar say about beating the Porsche 918 Spider?
In an interview excerpt from MAGNETO: Driving KALMAR 9X9, hosted on Kalmar’s website, founder Jan Kalmar said the company wanted to beat the Porsche 918 Spider’s cited Nordschleife time of 6 minutes 57 seconds. He added, “We’re quite confident we’re there,” and said, “We fail if we do not exceed what they achieved 40 years ago.”
Those comments describe Kalmar’s target and its confidence, not independent confirmation that the 9X9 achieved that time. The 6:57 figure is the Porsche 918 benchmark Kalmar’s founder cited; it is not a 9X9 result.

What testing has Kalmar reported?
Track and runway development
In a phase-two update, Kalmar described several intensive days of testing on a track and an airport runway. The company reported more than 400 kg of downforce at 240 km/h and more than 1.5G of lateral acceleration on standard road tires, even in cold weather. The update does not identify those sessions as Nürburgring tests, and the figures are manufacturer-reported development results.
Michelin tire work
In a later tire-test update, Kalmar said a subject test with a Michelin test driver had been passed, quoting the company: “The subject test is behind us, and it was passed with strong notes from the experienced Michelin test driver.” Kalmar also described revising the setup after the driver found the front axle too aggressive, with further “clinic tests” planned to determine top speed and pressure. The update reports tire and development work, not a Nordschleife lap time.

What is the Kalmar 9X9, and how does it relate to the Porsche 959?
Kalmar calls the 9X9 a bespoke “retro hypercar” and a tribute to the Porsche 959, the 1985 milestone model identified by Porsche Newsroom. The 959 is the design inspiration; Kalmar describes the 9X9 as being built on a Porsche 993 chassis, with a rigid spaceframe and selected running gear from contemporary Porsche 992 models, depending on configuration. It is not presented as a rebuild based on a 959 chassis.
Kalmar says each car is tailored to its owner and that it plans nine units of each model line. Its specifications should therefore be read as descriptions of the versions or development/show cars identified by the company, not as a guarantee that every customer build has identical equipment.

How do the 9X9, Sport and Leichtbau differ?
Kalmar describes three configurations with different engines, gearboxes and driven wheels. The figures below are the company’s published specifications; the 930 hp figure applies to the 3.8-litre car shown at the 2024 debut, and the 1,250 kg figure was published for the Leichtbau version.
| Version | Engine and published power | Gearbox | Driven wheels | Weight figure | Stated emphasis |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 9X9 | 3.8-litre turbo; above 900 hp on Kalmar’s current product page. The 2024 debut car was listed at 930 hp. | Double-clutch | Active all-wheel drive | Not stated in the cited Kalmar specifications | Comfort and grand touring |
| 9X9 Sport | 3.0-litre turbo; 650 hp | Seven-speed manual | All-wheel drive | Not stated in the cited Kalmar specifications | More driver-focused setup |
| 9X9 Leichtbau | Naturally aspirated 4.0-litre; power not stated in the cited debut specifications | Six-speed manual | Rear-wheel drive | 1,250 kg, as stated in Kalmar’s 2024 debut announcement | Lightweight configuration |
The standard 9X9’s current-page power description (“above 900 hp”) and the debut car’s 930 hp figure are not interchangeable promises for every build. Kalmar’s bespoke approach means an owner’s specification may vary from the published version descriptions.

What engineering does Kalmar describe?
Kalmar says the 9X9 uses bespoke double-wishbone pushrod front suspension, adaptive dampers, variable shock length, a speed-dependent third damper element and a front-axle lift system. Selected Porsche 992 subframes are also part of the described package.
The company says the body is carbon fiber, developed with computational fluid dynamics simulation and testing. In its 2024 debut announcement, Kalmar said the bodywork weighed under 100 kg and comprised more than 100 parts. These are manufacturer-published figures.
Kalmar identifies titanium brake calipers developed with CarboBrake and ceramic brake discs, alongside stability management, traction control and ABS. The debut announcement also named Michelin tires and magnesium wheels.
What is known about homologation?
Kalmar’s current product page says EU homologation is in place and describes TÜV oversight and single-vehicle homologation testing. The 2024 debut announcement used the more limited wording that EU-compliant homologation was prepared. These are Kalmar’s statements about EU status; they do not establish approvals in every other jurisdiction.
