The updates are accompanied by X9 and S7 hardware changes. The detailed feature list comes from Successful Farming’s Feb. 24, 2026 report; Deere’s product pages corroborate selected equipment details, but do not establish independently tested productivity gains.
What changes for the 2027 X9 and S7
The central update is about how the combines’ two automation functions work together. Harvest Settings Automation manages internal threshing and cleaning settings, while Predictive Ground Speed Automation adjusts travel speed. Successful Farming reports that the MY2027 systems are more closely integrated, so they can respond to each other rather than operating independently.
That description is a reported system change, not a measured result. The cited sources do not provide an independently verified comparison showing how much faster, more productive or more efficient a 2027 X9 or S7 is than an earlier model.
How Harvest Settings Automation works
Harvest Settings Automation adjusts five combine settings against operator-selected limits for grain loss, foreign material and broken grain:

For MY2027, the Successful Farming report says the supported crop list expands to include lentils, peas, rye, triticale, oats and sunflowers. This is a reported addition to the system’s crop coverage; it does not mean that every crop or configuration is available in every market.
How Predictive Ground Speed Automation chooses travel speed
The system uses crop and field information to adjust how quickly a combine moves. According to Successful Farming, it draws on crop-height and biomass information from pre-harvest satellite scans and cab-mounted cameras, along with terrain maps that identify features such as waterways, ditches and terraces. Cameras can also identify down crops and dense weed patches.

MY2027 additions
The report says Green Crop Detection distinguishes mature crops from green crops and adjusts ground speed in response. Operators can also set a crop-throughput target. Ground speed is linked to grain quality, with the system intended to help keep grain loss within acceptable limits. These are descriptions of system functions, not independently verified performance outcomes.
Reported hardware updates
Successful Farming’s MY2027 feature report lists the following changes. Deere’s Australian X9 product page separately corroborates the optional tank capacity and modular Tru-Thresh concaves with remote covers; the rest of the detailed list below is attributed to the trade report.
| Model or equipment | Reported update |
|---|---|
| X9 | Tru-Thresh concaves, plus remote concave and separator-grate adjustment. |
| X9 | Precut clean-grain-elevator openings intended to facilitate HarvestLab installation. |
| X9 | A 35-foot unloading auger, reported to provide four additional feet of clearance, and a 550-bushel grain tank intended to extend time between unloading. Deere Australia also lists an optional 550-bushel tank. |
| X9 and S7 | Power-folding ladder. |
| Factory option | JD Boost receiver for satellite connectivity where mobile connectivity is limited or unavailable. |
The 35-foot auger length, four-foot clearance increase and 550-bushel capacity are figures reported by Successful Farming for MY2027; the capacity is also presented as an option on Deere’s Australian X9 page. Confirm the specific model and configuration with a dealer before treating those details as applicable to a particular machine.
Australian header announcement is market-specific
In Australia, John Deere announced HDR60 and HDF60 hinge-draper platforms, each 60 feet (18.3 m) wide, and describes them as suitable for MY2027 X9 combines. The company says they can be matched with the latest Predictive Ground Speed and Harvest Settings Automation. These are Australian-market attachment details, not a claim of universal availability. Deere Australia’s announcement also includes crop-feeding features and company claims about harvest performance; those claims are not independent test results.

The sources do not establish a complete model-by-model MY2027 configuration, package, orderability or availability matrix for the X9 and S7. Before making a purchase or upgrade decision, ask Deere or a local dealer to confirm:
- Which MY2027 features and automation functions are fitted to the exact X9 or S7 configuration.
- Whether the added crop support and Green Crop Detection apply to the intended package and market.
- Header width and crop compatibility for the operation; the cited 60-foot HDR60/HDF60 announcement applies to Australia.
- Satellite and mobile connectivity requirements for the chosen setup, including whether a JD Boost receiver is available.
- Local orderability, upgrade eligibility and pricing, which the cited reports and product pages do not fully specify.
Deere Canada describes precision upgrades for X9, S7, S700 and S600 combines, including Premium and Ultimate packages, and recommends dealer evaluation. Deere Australia describes Auto Unload as factory-installable on new S7/X9 machines and as a precision upgrade for select older combines. Those sources establish that upgrade options exist in those markets, not that every MY2027 feature can be retrofitted to every combine.
What Deere says the updates are intended to do
John Deere harvesting marketing manager Nathan Kramer told Successful Farming the updates are intended to help customers harvest within tight windows, support less experienced operators and achieve an efficient, high-quality harvest. That is the company’s stated rationale, not independent proof that the systems will deliver those outcomes in every field or configuration.
