The Tuscany events use custom 8-meter pylons to test line choice, altitude control and precision flying. Jetson calls the format the world’s first eVTOL race, but the documented material describes a manufacturer-led demonstration rather than an independently governed racing championship.
What Jetson actually launched
Jetson announced Air Games in 2024 as a private electric vertical-takeoff-and-landing (eVTOL) air show with a dedicated racing format. Pilots fly Jetson ONE aircraft around a custom pylon course in Tuscany. A Jetson video listing from 2025 shows close flying near the pylons and competing pilots, while the company’s current news index presents the activity as its first eVTOL race.

The 8-meter pylons are intended to make the course a test of machine precision and pilot skill, not simply a top-speed run. Jetson describes the event as a place for aspiring pilots, motorsports fans and people interested in future eVTOL technology.

Is this a formal racing league?
Not on the evidence currently available. Jetson has published the aircraft, event concept and race footage, but no independent governing body, standardized championship rulebook, public-entry process, verified lap-time database or independently audited incident record is documented. It is most accurate to treat Air Games as an early private air-show and demonstration format that could evolve into organized competition.

What the Jetson ONE is
The Jetson ONE is a single-seat electric VTOL aircraft with eight motors and eight propellers. The pilot uses a four-axis joystick from an aluminum spaceframe built around a race-car-inspired safety cell. Jetson’s product page describes the aircraft as “a formula one racing car for the sky”; that is the manufacturer’s positioning, not an independent performance assessment.
| Published specification | Jetson’s stated figure | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Propulsion | Eight motors and eight propellers | Manufacturer specification, Jetson AB, 2026 |
| Flight time | Approximately 20 minutes | Manufacturer estimate; actual endurance depends on conditions, payload and operating profile |
| Top speed | 102 km/h | Software-limited manufacturer figure, Jetson AB, 2026 |
| Mass | 115 kg including batteries | Manufacturer figure, Jetson AB, 2026 |
| Maximum pilot weight | 95 kg | Manufacturer limit, Jetson AB, 2026 |
| Service ceiling | 1,500 feet above ground level, up to 10,000 feet mean sea level | Manufacturer figure; local airspace rules still apply |
Safety systems Jetson lists
- Continued flight after the loss of one motor.
- Redundant battery propulsion.
- Hands-free hover and emergency functions.
- A ballistic parachute.
- Radar-sensor-assisted auto-landing.
These are Jetson’s stated design features and safety claims. They should not be read as an independently measured accident rate or a guarantee that every emergency will end safely.
How the Air Games course tests a pilot
Pylon precision
The tall markers create a three-dimensional line through which the aircraft must be flown. A competitive run would require consistent lateral spacing, controlled altitude, accurate heading changes and enough clearance to avoid a pylon while keeping the route efficient.
Speed versus endurance
A 102 km/h software-limited maximum is useful on a straight section, but a technical course rewards acceleration, braking, turning and stable low-speed flight as well. With approximately 20 minutes of published flight time, a race organizer must account for warm-up, staging, the timed run and a safe return rather than treating the full figure as race-only endurance.
Pilot workload
The pilot must manage four-axis joystick inputs while holding a hover, judging clearance and following emergency procedures. Unlike a remotely piloted racing drone, the person is physically aboard the aircraft, so training, weight limits and recovery planning directly affect each flight.
How personal eVTOL racing differs from other formats
| Comparison point | Jetson Air Games | Drone racing | Traditional air racing | Other eVTOL demonstrations |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Course | Custom 8-meter pylons in a Tuscany air-show setting | Gate and obstacle courses; exact formats vary by organizer | Varies from closed-circuit pylons to point-to-point routes | Often maneuver demonstrations or technology displays rather than races |
| Pilot location | Inside a single-seat aircraft | Usually on the ground, flying by camera feed or line of sight | Inside the aircraft | Usually inside the aircraft or supervising from the ground |
| Published Jetson figures | Approximately 20 minutes and 102 km/h software-limited maximum | Not comparable; depends on drone class and battery | Not stated for this comparison | Not stated for this comparison |
| Safety architecture | Jetson lists redundant propulsion, auto-landing, hover and emergency functions, and a ballistic parachute | Aircraft and event safety systems vary by class | Aircraft and sanctioning rules vary by series | Aircraft and demonstration rules vary by program |
| Sporting governance | Jetson-led event; standardized independent championship rules are not documented | Organizer- and league-specific | Usually defined by a sanctioning organization | Usually event-specific |
The practical distinction is that Air Games combines a piloted aircraft, a confined obstacle course and a manufacturer-controlled event. That makes it closer to a technology demonstration with racing elements than to an established motorsport series.

Italy
Jetson reported in an official update dated August 13, 2026, that Italy’s Aero Club d’Italia issued identification I-E953 on June 17, 2026. The company said this recognizes the Jetson ONE within Italy’s existing ultralight framework. That recognition is specific to Italy and does not automatically authorize flights in another country, another airspace class or an Air Games course.

Jetson’s product page states that no pilot’s license is required in the United States. That statement does not remove the need to check local operating rules, airspace, property permissions, launch-site restrictions, insurance and any applicable federal, state or municipal requirements before attempting a flight.
Other countries
There is no basis to generalize the Italian identification or Jetson’s United States statement worldwide. A prospective pilot must confirm the aircraft category, registration or identification requirements, pilot credentials, training obligations, operating areas and event permissions with the relevant national authorities.
Training and the path for future pilots
Jetson reported that more than 85 Jetson ONE pilots had been trained as of its August 13, 2026 update. That is a company-reported count, not a universal certification standard or evidence that a public race school is accepting entries.
- Confirm eligibility. Check the aircraft’s maximum 95 kg pilot-weight limit and the rules that apply where you intend to fly.
- Use aircraft-specific instruction. Learn joystick control, hover management, emergency functions, landing procedures and the manufacturer’s operating limitations.
- Practice precision before speed. Build stable takeoffs, hovers, turns and obstacle-clearance judgment before attempting a pylon-style course.
- Verify the event pathway. Ask the organizer whether participation is invitation-only, what medical or training records are required, and how aircraft inspection, insurance and emergency cover are handled.
- Plan the full flight. Reserve energy for staging, the run, diversion and landing; the approximately 20-minute figure is not a guaranteed race duration.
Small FPV or drone-racing gates can help a trainee visualize lines and spacing on the ground, but they are not Jetson ONE accessories and cannot substitute for supervised aircraft instruction.
Where to watch and what is still unknown
Jetson publishes Air Games announcements, race footage and Jetson ONE news through its own channels. The available material does not establish a permanent broadcast schedule, a universal ticketing system or a verified public-entry program. Viewers should check the company’s current event information for location, access and any authorized video distribution.
Several important comparisons remain unavailable: independently measured lap times, peer-reviewed performance testing, injury or incident rates, standardized race rules and a published championship calendar. Until those records exist, footage can show the concept and the skill involved, but it cannot establish how Air Games compares competitively with mature drone or air-racing series.
What this means for a prospective pilot
Jetson Air Games demonstrates that a personal eVTOL can be flown through a deliberate obstacle course with a pilot aboard. It does not yet show an open, internationally standardized sport. For future pilots, the meaningful questions are not only how fast the aircraft can go, but whether local authorities permit the operation, what training is accepted, how an event manages separation and emergencies, and whether the organizer publishes rules and safety data that others can independently inspect.
