On April 6, 2022, Automotive Grade Linux (AGL) announced that IndyKite, Marelli and Red Hat had joined the project as Bronze members. The announcement framed the additions as contributions to a shared, open-source automotive software effort; it does not establish whether any of the three companies remains an AGL member today.

In that release, AGL was described as a Linux Foundation-hosted, cross-industry open-source project developing a shared software platform for connected-car technologies. Its Unified Code Base (UCB) was presented as supporting in-vehicle infotainment, telematics and instrument-cluster applications, with an ambition to address software across the vehicle. This is the platform description in the 2022 announcement, not a current technical specification.

The announcement described distinct interests: IndyKite focused on identity services, Marelli on collaboration around automotive systems, and Red Hat on open-source Linux expertise for in-vehicle software. These are the companies’ stated priorities at the time, not independent assessments of their products or work.

What the announcement does—and does not—establish
Marelli’s Hoyau said AGL could become a standard operating system. That was his opinion in 2022, not evidence that AGL later became an industry standard. Likewise, the release reported that AGL was supported by more than 150 members, including 10 automakers; those were figures stated by Automotive Grade Linux and The Linux Foundation in 2022, not current membership totals.
The announcement and AGL’s later announcements index, which documents subsequent project activity through May 2026, do not verify whether IndyKite, Marelli or Red Hat remains a member today. The membership news should therefore be read as a historical update, not as a current roster.
