Slate Auto’s April 2025 reveal gave its electric pickup a projected 150-mile range in the base configuration. That figure is no longer the company’s current plan: Slate’s June 24, 2026 update and current FAQ put the standard pickup’s projected range at 205 miles. Slate says the figure approximates the EPA test cycle; it is not an official EPA range rating. The truck remains in preproduction, so specifications and timing may change.
What Slate announced—and what changed about the range
Slate Auto unveiled the Slate Truck on April 24, 2025. The original base configuration paired a 52.7-kWh battery with rear-wheel drive and a 150-mile range target. Slate also described an optional 84.3-kWh battery with a 240-mile target. Both were company projections, not official EPA estimates. Slate’s original announcement is the source of the 150-mile figure in the launch headline.
On June 24, 2026, Slate announced a revised standard-range plan: 205 projected miles for the pickup, up from 150. The latest specification announcement lists a 65-kWh pack, of which 63 kWh is usable, and a single rear motor driving the rear wheels. Slate describes the 205 miles as an approximation of the EPA test cycle. An official EPA range estimate was still pending in the company information available at that time. Slate’s June 2026 update is the more relevant figure for readers asking about the planned truck today.
What the planned truck’s specifications say
Slate’s June 2026 figures are manufacturer-published specifications and estimates, not independent test results. The company notes that actual range can vary with temperature, driving habits, accessories, charging, and battery condition.

Production-vehicle accessory compatibility is not established, so confirm final equipment and compatibility before buying a charger.
Can the pickup become an SUV?
Slate describes the two-seat pickup as the starting configuration, with kits intended to change it into a five-seat SUV. Its FAQ names Squareback, Fastback, and Open Air variants, as well as a covered cargo kit. These are planned configurations and accessories, not evidence that every conversion kit is available now. Slate presents the platform as a vehicle customers can personalize as their needs change.
