What does SRT mean on a Dodge?
On a Dodge, SRT identifies a performance-oriented version or vehicle associated with the Street and Racing Technology group. It is not a separate car company, nor does the badge alone specify an engine or output; those depend on the model and year.
Are SRT and Dodge the same thing?
No. Dodge is an automotive brand; SRT is a performance identity that has crossed brand lines. A 2014 Chrysler Group overview named the Dodge Challenger and Charger, Chrysler 300, Jeep Grand Cherokee and SRT Viper as examples. In a 2014 organizational change, the Viper moved back to Dodge. How to choose among SRT vehicles
For drag-strip performance
The Demon 170 is the clearest drag-focused choice in this selection. Stellantis said its 2023 output was 1,025 hp and 945 lb-ft on E85, or 900 hp and 810 lb-ft on E10. The company also reported an NHRA-certified quarter-mile run of 8.91 seconds at 151.17 mph and a 0–60 mph time of 1.66 seconds. These are manufacturer claims for the specified car and fuel conditions, not independently tested results here. The Super Stock is another drag-oriented Challenger choice, with 807 hp in Stellantis’s 2023 lineup description.

For a performance SUV
The 2018 Grand Cherokee SRT and Trackhawk illustrate how much the badge can vary within one model family. FCA Canada/Stellantis reported 475 hp and 470 lb-ft for the Grand Cherokee SRT’s 6.4-liter V-8, versus 707 hp and 645 lb-ft for the Trackhawk’s supercharged 6.2-liter V-8. The same 2017 announcement gave manufacturer-reported 0–60 mph times of 4.8 seconds and 3.5 seconds, respectively, and top speeds of 160 mph and 198 mph. Those figures describe the 2018 models, not every Grand Cherokee carrying an SRT-related badge.
For a sedan, sports car or broad performance identity
The Charger SRT Redeye represents the four-door route; the Chrysler 300 SRT brings the identity to a large Chrysler sedan; and the Viper is the sports-car example. Their appeal is not captured by horsepower alone: body style, intended use, model year, condition and availability matter. The cited sources identify these vehicles but do not provide comparable specifications or establish current market availability.

What to verify before buying or modifying one
- Confirm the exact model year and trim. SRT specifications are not universal, and similarly named versions can have different engines and output.
- Check fuel assumptions for high-output claims. The Demon 170 figures differ between E85 and E10.
- Match the vehicle to the use. A drag-focused coupe, sedan, SUV and sports car involve different practical compromises.
- For parts, confirm the specific fitment. Stellantis describes Dodge Direct Connection as a parts portfolio developed by SRT engineers, with products for street, strip, track, crate-engine, racing and vintage-muscle applications. Availability is described through Dodge dealers and online, but an individual part’s compatibility must be checked for the exact vehicle and model year.
Stellantis also described a one-day SRT Experience class at Radford Racing School as an offer tied to purchase of the 2023 Challenger SRT Demon 170. That historical, model-specific offer does not establish general current eligibility.
