Is the JAS Tensei a new Honda NSX?
No. JAS Motorsport describes the Tensei as its first high-performance road car, inspired by the 1990s Honda NSX and based on that generation’s platform. It is a JAS project, not a Honda production variant. The name “NSX” can refer to two distinct Honda generations, so the comparison here is primarily with the original car.

Honda says the first-generation NSX went on sale in 1990. Its second-generation NSX arrived in 2016 and used a three-motor Sport Hybrid SH-AWD system. What is known about the Tensei’s engineering?
JAS says the Tensei retains the first-generation NSX platform as its basis but has completely re-engineered underpinnings and draws technical solutions from the company’s motorsport work. The company has also announced an all-carbon-fibre body. These facts indicate a substantial reinterpretation rather than a cosmetic edition, but they do not disclose exactly what components have changed or how the car drives.

Honda’s original NSX is described by the company as pioneering an all-aluminum monocoque for a mass-production vehicle. That statement concerns the original car’s structure; it does not establish that the Tensei uses the same structural layout or that its carbon-fibre body is a monocoque.
What Tensei specifications are still unknown?
The official announcements cited here do not state the Tensei’s engine configuration or displacement, power or torque, gearbox, driven wheels, curb weight, dimensions, suspension details, acceleration, top speed, price, delivery timing or homologation markets. Without those figures, there is no sound basis to claim that it is faster, lighter or more powerful than an original NSX. Nor should the second-generation NSX’s hybrid system be attributed to it.

How limited is production, and where is it being sold?
JAS announced production limited to 35 cars. Its 23 June 2026 announcement named Graham Rahal Performance for US sales and customer service and Pfaff Reserve for Canada. It does not establish sales arrangements in other countries.
JAS planned a public launch in the second half of 2026. In an announcement dated 10 August 2026, it scheduled the public debut for the Paris Motor Show, 12–18 October 2026. These are announced plans as of 9 October 2026, not confirmation that the debut has already taken place. Check JAS’s official announcements for any subsequent update.

Which car is the Tensei most comparable to?
For identity and design, the closest comparison is the original, first-generation NSX: JAS explicitly bases the Tensei on that car’s platform and says it takes inspiration from the 1990s model. The second-generation NSX is useful only as a distinction: it is a later Honda model with a documented three-motor hybrid system, not the basis for assuming the Tensei’s powertrain.
For a buyer weighing driving performance, the available announcements are not enough to decide how the Tensei compares with either Honda generation. JAS has not published the key specifications listed above, and the cited material includes no independent driving evaluation or head-to-head test.
